Judith C. Tate Smith, 69, of Belpre, died on Saturday (April 12, 2014) at Camden Clark Hospital in Parkersburg.
She was born on March 23, 1945 in Cutler, Ohio, to the late Leo James and Fearl B. Harris Tate. She retired from DuPont in Parkersburg, where she worked as a medical technologist. She attended the Faith Assembly of God in Canal Winchester and served 13 years on the Belpre city council. She is survived by one son, Jerrod W (Heather Roach) Smith of Knoxville, Tenn.; one daughter, Terri M. Smith of Belpre; two brothers, Paul Tate of Canal Winchester, Don Tate of Columbus; two sisters, Cathy Davis of Canal Winchester, Rita Tate of Groveport; three stepgrandchildren, Justus T. Smith, Derek Thomson and Brittany Simms; and one stepgreat-granddaughter, Lilly Simms.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Dwight and Jimmy Tate; three sisters, Frani Tate, Esther Croston and Virginia Norris.
Services will be held on Thursday (April 17, 2014) at 1 p.m. at Bethel Wesleyan Church near Amesville with Pastor W. Ray Richards officiating. Burial will follow in Old Quaker Friends Cemetery near Cutler. Friends may call on the family on Thursday (April 16) from 5 to 8 p.m. at Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill, and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
