The Smoot Theatre Children's Chorus will present its final concert of the year on Friday, April 25 at 7 p.m. at the Smoot Theatre, 213 Fifth St., Parkersburg. The STCC, which is in its fourth year, is a group of 34 fourth, fifth and sixth graders from surrounding areas. The concert will feature a variety of music ranging from the 18th century madrigal Gluck's "Joyfully Sing" through a contemporary setting of Emily Dickinson's "Will There Really Be a Morning?" In addition, the chorus will present arrangements of the folk songs "Old Joe Clark' and "Polly Wolly Doodle", the swing tune "Tuxedo Junction" and a patriotic medley "The Spirit of Freedom". Also included on the concert will be the traditional Swahili "Yesu Ni Wangu" with special guest singers from the recent Smoot Spring Sing. Director of the Children's Chorus is Barbara Full, accompanist is Marsha Parsons and Smoot Theatre Director is Felice Jorgeson. The public is invited to the free concert and donations are accepted.
