Louise A. Danner, 50, of 7400 Dalzell Road, Whipple, reported Saturday that an unknown suspect(s) broke into her unoccupied rental home at 260 Liberty UB Church Road, Whipple. There was no damage to the home but there were beer cans, clothes and cigarette butts strewn about the residence. Danner suspected two acquaintances who recently visited the home with her were responsible. One of the suspects admitted he and the other acquaintance entered the home. Warrants were requested for Blaze M. Taylor, 18, of 30174 Main St., Stafford, and Cassandra D. Crooks, 28, of 157 Andover Road, Woodsfield, for criminal trespassing.
An employee of the Duchess Shop, at 100 Main St., Lowell, reported Monday that a heavy set female walked out of the store without paying for a case of Bud Light.
The Caldwell Fire Department transported an 83-year-old Macksburg resident to Marietta Memorial Hospital Sunday for treatment to a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Depressed over his failing eyesight, the victim attempted to take his own life by shooting himself in the chest with a shotgun. The victim was calm and alert when emergency personnel arrived and subsequently underwent surgery for non-life threatening injuries. He was last listed in stable condition.
A deputy and the Beverly-Waterford Fire Department were dispatched Sunday to a brush fire in the vicinity of 1370 McNeal Road, Waterford. The fire, the origin of which is unknown, covered a large area and spread to possibly three properties. No structures or personal property were damaged.
