Jon W. Morgenstern, 66, of Beverly, died Saturday (May 3, 2014) at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland.
He was born May 28, 1947, in Elba, Ohio, son of James A. and Madeline Cronin Morgenstern. He retired from the Ohio Power Company, Muskingum River Plant, as a unit supervisor in June of 2003. He later worked for AMP Ohio in Marietta as an equipment operator. He had also owned the Old Country Auctioneering Service from 1986 until 2013. He graduated from Caldwell High School and served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and was stationed in Korea. He was a member of the Beverly Lions Club, Mount Moriah Lodge #37 F&AM in Beverly, Dexter City American Legion Post #418, where he was adjutant and attended the Twin Rivers Baptist Church.
He was married May 18, 1969 to Joyce Handschumacher Morgenstern who survives. He is also survived by four sons, Jeremy and wife, Christina, of Columbus, Jon Ryan and wife, Stacy, of Caldwell, Justin and fiancee, Erin, of Athens and Jared and wife, Shelley, of Hackney; seven grandchildren, Alexis, Hallie, Jakob, Hayden, Brie, Madeline and Sophia; four sisters, Gwen Morgenstern, Judy Brown, Helen Saxe and Teresa Stewart; one brother, Bob Morgenstern.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jennifer Lynn Morgenstern; and two brothers, Donald and Charles Morgenstern.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly with Pastor Jeff Baumer officiating. Burial will be in Beverly Cemetery with military services at the grave. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
