Youth fishing derby is on Sunday
The Washington County Fish and Game annual Youth Fishing Derby will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at 2100 Duck Creek Road, Whipple. The derby is for those ages 1 to 17. There will be trophies for each age group, concessions, a 50/50, raffles and a country store as well as gifts for all children.
Beverly library group holding local tea
The Friends of the Beverly Library are holding a tea from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday to honor Faye Brawner, local author and nationally known geranium expert. Brawner's book "Geraniums: The Complete Encyclopedia" has recently been added to the library's collection and Brawner has become available to speak with anyone interested in geraniums or gardening. All interested gardeners are invited to attend the tea to meet and speak with her. The tea is free and open to the public.
Hand bell choirs to perform Sunday
Five local hand bell choirs will join together for a Spring Ring at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption, 506 Fourth St., Marietta. The concert is free and open to the public. A free will donation will be collected to pay the balance due on a special commissioned piece for the 2015 spring ring recognizing 25 years of this musical event. Hand bell choirs participating are the Christ United Methodist Church, Saint Luke's Lutheran Church, First Presbyterian Church, St. Mary Catholic Church and the Mid Ohio Valley Ringers.
Church to host strawberry festival
A Strawberry Festival will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the First Congregational Church, 318 Front St., Marietta. There will be a sandwich lunch with strawberry or peach shortcake, eat-in or take-out. The cost is $6 for adults or $5 for those 7 and younger. There will be a la carte items and baked goods, jellies and strawberries for sale as well as free face painting for children.

Betsey Mills Club golf scramble
The Women's Scramble Betsey Mills Club Golf Benefit will be held June 4 at the Lakeside Golf Course. Registration is at 8 a.m. with a 9 a.m. tee off. The cost is $60 per person, with teams of four competing. The day includes a continental breakfast, 18 holes of gold, a chance to win prizes and a sit-down lunch.
