Albert Arnold Bonar Sr., 75, of Belpre, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord May 13, 2014, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va. after a long battle with cancer. He was born Dec. 13, 1938, in Rockland, Ohio, oldest son of Jess M. and Stella M. Bonar of Belpre.
Albert accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized with his wife Bonnie in the spring of 1957. They attended Parkersburg First Church of the Nazarene. He retired from Belpre City Schools on June 6, 1988, after 30 years of service. Served a President of Oapse for many years.
Albert loved his family and any day was a good day for a family gathering. Holidays were especially precious to him. His annual Easter Egg Hunt was a long tradition and was eagerly anticipated by his adult children as well as his many grand and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed raising cattle, farming and traveling.
Albert and his beloved wife Bonnie J. (Hart) Bonar were married Dec. 25, 1957, in St. Marys, W.Va.. He enjoyed surprising his wife with gifts on the 25th of each month.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Delbert Dean Bonar and his sister, Shirley J. Bonar Wingrove.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bonnie J. Hart Bonar, four daughters, one son, 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Daughter Stella Marie Becker, husband Greg of Moss Run, Ohio, daughters, Rose and Miranda, sons Travis Moss Run, Ohio and Trevor (deceased).
Daughter Alberta Jane Venham, husband Bill of Belpre, Ohio, daughter Stacy Bell, husband Robert, daughter Natalie of Belpre, son Scott Venham, wife Kayla of Dart, Ohio.
Daughter Peggy S. Becker, husband Tim of Belpre, son Eric Snodgrass, wife Brittany, sons Caden, Dakota and Bradley of Vienna and sons Joshua and Zackery at home.
Son Albert A. Bonar Jr., wife Becky of Belpre, Ohio, sons, Andy Knapp and David at home.
Services will be on Friday at 1 p.m. at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre with Pastor Keith Hostutler officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Belpre. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m.
