‘Gerry’ Elder

Naomi Geraldine 'Gerry' Bennett Elder, 84, of Vincent, Ohio, passed away May 14, 2014, at her residence, under the loving care of her family and Marietta Home Heath and Hospice.

She was born in Vincent, Sept. 18, 1929, a daughter of the late Ira Gordon and Gladys Ellen Grubb Bennett.

'Gerry' was a 1947 graduate of Vincent high School and had worked for the Bureau of Public Debt. 'Gerry' enjoyed sports, especially the Warren Warriors, Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians. She was a charter member of the Ohio Child Conservation League, Tree of Life Chapter, charter member of Porterfield Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday School, and was a BYF leader for several years.

Surviving 'Gerry' are her husband of 67 years, Charles 'Bill' Elder III; four children, son, Jeffrey Elder (Jeannie) of Sacramento Calif., and their children, Matthew, Michael (Kelly), Josh and Jonathan Elder; daughter, Terri Reusser of Vincent, and her children, Valerie Carr (Shawn), Andrea Reusser and Erick Reusser (Natalie); son, Mark Elder (Debbie), and their children, Stephen Elder (Rhonda) and Stephanie Mull (Marlin); daughter, Julie Fries (Steve), and their children, Danielle Fries and Adam Fries; and 9 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, 'Gerry' was preceded in death by her brother, Gerald Herbert Bennett.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m., Monday, May 19, at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre, with Rev. Mark Eaton officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., Sunday, May 18, and for one hour prior to the service on Monday, May 19.
