City and pool management officials are hoping for a good turnout as the Marietta Aquatic Center opens Saturday for the Memorial Day weekend.
"The forecast says 77 degrees on Saturday, but it should be warmer on Sunday and Monday," said Mike Bishman, owner of Professional Pool Management, which will manage the aquatic center for the 2014 season.
He said the pool management team has been making preparations for the opening since the beginning of this month.

Marietta Aquatic Center pool manager Stephanie Greene distributes floatation devices to each lifeguard station at the municipal pool Tuesday afternoon. The facility opens Saturday for the Memorial Day weekend
Aquatic center manager Stephanie Greene was readying the facility for a staff training exercise Tuesday afternoon.
"The staff and lifeguards go through at least two refresher training sessions at the aquatic center before the pool opens each season, including training on our emergency action plans," she said. "We have 32 lifeguards at the center and 11 concession workers on staff."
Greene said preparations for the pool opening began at the first of May with sealing of the pool walls, cleaning and setting up equipment.
Washington County pools opening Memorial Day weekend:
- Belpre City Pool-Friday.
- Beverly Village Pool-Saturday.
- Marietta Aquatic Center-Saturday through Monday.
- Lowell Village Pool-Monday.
Susie Joyce, recreation clerk for the city of Marietta, said the pool was filled Sunday.
"The aquatic center will open Saturday through Monday for the Memorial Day weekend, then it will reopen the next weekend for the season," she said.
A new soft drink vendor will be supplying the pool concession stand this year, Joyce said.
"We wanted to contract with a more local vendor, so CRJ Vending of Marietta will be the new supplier with a wider selection of soft drinks available," she said.
The 2013 season was pretty disappointing for area pools, including the aquatic center, as the summer was plagued with rain and cooler-than-normal temperatures. Memorial Day weekend was basically washed out for pool attendance with temperatures only reaching the upper 60s on both Saturday and Sunday last year.
"But we're hoping for a good, hot summer and a great kickoff Memorial Day weekend this year," Joyce said.
The National Weather Service is forecasting 77 degrees on Saturday, followed by temperatures in the mid-80s for Sunday and Monday on the Memorial Day weekend.
Other area pools opening over the weekend include the Belpre City Pool on Friday, the Beverly Village Pool on Saturday, and the Lowell Village Pool on Monday.
