Gerald "Ray" Morrison, 77, of Malta, passed 1:15 a.m., June 11, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.
Ray was born Oct. 16, 1936, in Reinersville, Ohio, to the late Guy and Lavella Quigley Morrison. July 26, 1959, he was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Ray at Malta United Methodist Church by Rev. Robert Thompson.
Ray was a 1954 graduate from Manchester High School, Reinersville, Ohio. He went on to serve his country with the Army National Guards, 1959-1964. He was a member of the Corinthian Lodge #111 F&AM and the American Legion Post No. 24 of McConnelsville. He was also an active member of the Malta United Methodist Church. Ray retired from Ohio Power Company-Muskingum River Plant, Beverly, Ohio in 1996, where he was employed for 28 years. After retirement, he delivered Meals on Wheels for 10 years while working part-time for Morgan Hardware. Ray was also employed with Lawrence/Nesselroad Construction, Malta Manufacturing and Stockport Sand & Gravel.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Michael (Donna) Morrison of McConnelsville, and Mitchell (Denise) Morrison of Westerville; a daughter, Michelle (Ron) Foreman of McConnelsville; mother-in-law, Virgene Ray; three sisters, Eula Ashton of Beverly, Shirley (Pete) Dobbins and June Lawrence of Stockport; grandchildren, Phil (Sarah) Morrison of Marysville, Katlin (Aaron) Locke of Pataskala, Malachi Morrison of McConnelsville, Christopher and Gabbie Morrison of Westerville, Brian (Missy) Foreman of North Carolina, and Clint (Kim) Foreman of McConnelsville; great-grandchildren, Kallie Locke, Annabelle Morrison, Hunter Foreman and Max Foreman; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Charlie Myron Ray, September 1989; and three brothers-in-law.
Calling hours are scheduled for 3-7 p.m., Sunday, June 15, at Miller-Huck Funeral Home, McConnelsville. Masonic Lodge services will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Mike Wells, Monday, June 16, at Malta United Methodist Church at 11 a.m., with viewing one hour prior to service. Final resting place Malta Cemetery, where military rites will be observed.
