Elmer Oliver, 92, of Sonora, Ky., passed away June 3, 2014, at Thompson-Hood Veteran's Center in Wilmore, Ky.
He was born in Marietta, the son of Walter and Anna Holiday Oliver.
He retired from the U.S. Army after serving 20 years during WWII and the Korean War. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart. Elmer was former owner and operator of Layne Brothers Inc. and Oliver Trailer Park.
He is survived by his wife, Bertie Oliver; and two sons, Brad of Oklahoma, and Joe and his wife Monica of Sonora; five grandchildren, Duke, Jeff, Josh, Casey and Brooke; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Marie McGregor and Hester Offenberger of Marietta. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Woodrow, Lee and Paul; and one sister, Ruth Tilton.
Burial was in North Harden Memorial Gardens in Radcliff, Ky., with military honors.
