An officer checked on a report Monday of an unattended 3-year-old child at 111 Pike St. The child's parents were located.
An officer investigated an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and a theft of tools Monday at 832 Ridge St. The resident, Kay Hansen, advised that her car was moved from the driveway to the yard. David Hansen advised that someone stole tools from his vehicle. There are no suspects in this case.
The Newport Fire Department transported a 76-year-old New Matamoras resident to Camden Clark Hospital Friday for treatment following a suicide attempt. Depressed over her relationship with her children and other issues, the victim ingested approximately 18 Xanax pills in an attempt to take her own life. The victim was to be kept for observation for several hours and was to be discharged if she did not experience any other problems.
Sylvia Richards, 89, of 1635 Warren Chapel Road, Marietta, was retrieving her mail Friday when she stepped in a small ditch and fell. Richards attempted to catch herself but broke her right arm at the elbow and then struck her head on the paved roadway. She is expected to recover fully.
Gene A. Beatty Jr., 57, of 3317 Third Ave., Parkersburg, was arrested Friday for OVI, consuming alcohol in a vehicle and possession of drugs. A caller reported Beatty had been consuming alcohol and was driving a silver Toyota truck. A deputy conducted a traffic stop after Beatty committed traffic violations on Ohio 339 in Dunham Township. Beatty had an odor of alcohol and a half full can of cold Natural Light in the front seat of his vehicle. A small bag of marijuana was found in his pocket. At the Washington County Jail, Beatty tested .118 percent blood alcohol content.
The bartender at the Edgewater, at 860 Muskingum River Road, Marietta, reported Saturday while she left the bar unattended for a short period that afternoon, she believes two patrons stole $400 from the bar's lottery game cash box.
A friend reported Sunday he has not seen or heard from Andrew Smith, 47, of 770 Dalzell Road, Whipple, since the previous evening. Smith departed his friend's residence at 10 p.m., driving a UTV to his home. A passerby observed Smith in a creek near the bank close to 385 Hull Road, Whipple, after 10 a.m. Smith apparently attempted to cross the creek in his UTV and became stuck. Smith was able to exit the UTV but could not make it to the creek bank. Smith suffered a decreased body temperature but no serious injuries. He was kept overnight at a hospital for observation.

Larry E. Stevens Jr., 45, of 1585 1/2 Coal St., Chesterhill, for two misdemeanor counts of failure to appear. Stevens was picked up at the Southeast Ohio Regional Jail and processed into the Washington County Jail Friday.
Glenn F. Young Jr., 49, of 303 Jennison St., Beverly, for theft and for violating the terms of his probation, both felonies. Young was picked up at the Meigs County Jail and processed into the Washington County Jail Friday.

Nyowka C. Taylor, 23, of 27927 Huckleberry Road, Hockingport, was arrested Saturday for failure to appear, a misdemeanor.
Alexander D. Miller, 18, of 1660 Finkle Hill Road, Beverly, was arrested Saturday for underage consumption of alcohol, a misdemeanor.
Jacob C. Schilling, 18, of 215 State Route 339, Beverly, was arrested Saturday for OVI, for not wearing a seat belt and for failure to obey a traffic control device, all misdemeanors.
Brandie A. Lamp, 31, of 1006 Third St., Marietta, was arrested Saturday for disorderly conduct by intoxication, a misdemeanor.
Cody A. Mugrage, 24, of 25 Radabaugh Road, Marietta, was arrested Saturday for a felony charge of burglary and a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence.
Carrie A. Metz, 33, of 1515 Washington Blvd., Belpre, was arrested Saturday for abusing harmful intoxicants and for violating the terms of his probation, both misdemeanors.
Thomas C. Lauer, 40, of 1368 Muskingum River Road, Marietta, was arrested Sunday for OVI, a misdemeanor.
Thomas R. Voisinet, 33, of 485 Muskingum River Road, Marietta, was arrested Sunday for a felony charge of aggravated menacing and misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal damaging.
Russell R. Reindl, 55, of 114 Jett Star Drive, Hockingport, was arrested Sunday for violating the terms of a protection order and for driving under an OVI suspended license, both misdemeanors.
Chase A. Pugh, 24, of 808 Montgomery St., Marietta, was arrested Sunday for domestic violence and for disorderly conduct by intoxication, both misdemeanors.
Emily S. Stewart, 24, of 411 Strecker Lane, Marietta, was arrested Sunday for OVI, resisting arrest and for driving on the wrong side of the road, all misdemeanors.
