Robert D. Venham, 85, of Marietta, passed away at 10:38 a.m., Sunday (June 22, 2014) at Harmar Place.
He was born Sept. 28, 1928, at Marietta, the son of Clarence W. Venham and Grace Beck Venham.
He was employed as a batch plant operator at Smith Concrete, retiring after 29 years. Robert was a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean conflict. He was a member of the 6th and Washington Streets Church of Christ, life member of VFW Post 5108, enjoyed being outdoors, and was a daily Bible reader.
On Dec. 23, 1953, he married Kathryn B. Williams, who survives with one son, Lanny D. Venham, and daughter, Sherry Lynn (Randy) Hazle; five grandchildren, Randy L. Hazle, Josh E Hazle, Aaron I. Venham, Josh and Summer Larsen; one great-grandchild, Shenna Mae; brother, David L. Venham of Marietta; and is survived by many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Jimmy Lee Venham.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 25, at the 6th and Washington Streets Church of Christ, with Roger Rush officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. with family present from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home, and one hour before the service at the church.
