- Ohio selective service local boards are beginning this month to order 18-year-old registrants to complete examination by the armed forces. The state director of selective service emphasized that the examination does not mean that they face induction in the immediate future.
100 years (1914)
- The opening night of the Metropolitan Shows, playing at the Green street grounds this week drew an unusually large crowd. The attractions are of a better class than found with most carnivals and the different shows appeared to be well patronized last evening.
- Raises granted by city council became effective at the beginning of the month and account for a total increase of about $30,000 per year in the municipal payroll.
