Arts, crafts show in McConnelsville
The 47th annual Howard Chandler Christy Art Guild Fine Arts and Crafts Show will be held Saturday and Sunday at 10th and Main streets in McConnelsville. Admission and parking are free. There will be music and food, artist demonstrations and an art auction at 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Fair board to hold special meeting
A special meeting of the Washington County Fair Board will be held at 7 p.m. today at the fair board office.
Special memorial for former POW
A memorial service for Frank Stone Trautman will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Belpre Congregational Church, 228 Main St. Trautman, a POW in World War II, died June 16.
Crime Watch group to meet Aug. 5
The Harmar Hill Neighborhood Crime Watch Group will host its annual National Night Out crime prevention picnic at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 5 in the community building at Lookout Park. This event promotes police-community partnerships, crime, drug, and violence prevention, safety and neighborhood unity. Those attending are invited to bring a covered dish. The Neighborhood Watch Coordinators will supply hot dogs, drinks and paper products.
Church to host ice cream social
An ice cream social will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Washington Hall Christian Union Church on Rinard Mills Road in New Matamoras. There will be free homemade ice cream, music and cornhole along with entertainment by Ruthie Dunn & The Sunderman Family.
Head Start preschool to hold open house
Washington-Morgan Community Action Head Start preschool will hold an open house at the Jane Edwards Center (formerly Norwood School) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday. Families are welcome to stop by, view a classroom and talk to the coordinators. There will be a bounce house, preschool obstacle course, fire trucks, snacks and more.
Head Start is a free preschool for income-eligible families specializing in kindergarten readiness and child development, and has been serving Washington County for more than 40 years through classrooms and in-home options.
