The Marietta Bantam 17 & under Colt League Teams fared well this summer
Team 1, Marietta Sandlot, finished with a winning 6-4 record, while team 2, Marietta Tigers were 6-5.
Right-handed pitchers' Corey Hill and Andrew Carpenter led their prospective squads on the hill with four wins apiece, while right-handed relief pitcher Jacob Wagner recorded one win and three saves.
Southpaw reliever Jacob Erb also had one win and was credited with one save.
Wagner, also the Sandlot first baseman was the top stick batting .416. He also had a .577 on base percentage.
Max Fitzgerald led the teams in doubles with five, and Mason Hall had two triples to lead both squads in that offensive category.
Ethan Shumar was tops in runs scored with 10, and right-handed relief pitcher Matthew Fitzgerald led the squads in middle relief innings pitched with 12.
Fitzgerald, a leadoff hitter, also stole seven bases to lead all Marietta baserunners. An end of season highlight occurred on July 14 when Hill threw a late season pitching gem. Hill threw a 2 hitter and fanned 13 against tournament rival Fort Frye in a 3-1 triumph for the Tigers squad, which advanced further into the season-ending tournament.
Fitzgerald also doubled twice for the winners, and drove in all three Marietta runs.
Other Marietta players who contributed to the season's success were Tyler Stephens, Joel Bricker, Jared Knight, Heath Stevens, Jack Halliday, Joel Wynn, Tyler Sheiler, Michael Greenlee, Gage Fouss, Chris Austin, Blake Carle, Garrett Davis, Austin VanFossen, and Malachi Vaughan.
Both Team 1 and 2 were coached by Mike Wagner.
