We live in the richest country in the history of the world. There are millions of people around the planet displaced by wars and violent upheaval.
Children have walked, hitchhiked, swam and been dangerously smuggled into our country from places where their lives are at risk on a daily basis from gangs, drug dealers, thugs and others who lord over the weak.
While countries such as Jordan open their arms to hundreds of thousands of refugees, some in the United States are ranting and raving because children are trying to survive in environments we can't even imagine.
Have we forgotten each and everyone of us are immigrants. Our families almost all came from elsewhere. We have an opportunity to help our fellow human beings from dangerous places. We are talking mostly about children 2-17 years old.
I fully support doing everything possible to help protect the lives and well being of these youngsters who are just trying live to adulthood.
Will we open our arms and share the bounty we have been blessed with? Will we open our hearts to our fellow human beings? Or will we allow a few scared people who only worry about their own hate and fears to help condemn these refugee children to dangers and death.
