Mary Odelia Cisler Royle was born September 6, 1914, in Lowell, Ohio, the daughter of the late Robert Thomas and Minnie (Warren) Cisler and passed away on August 8, 2014 just one month prior to her 100th birthday.
On September 1, 1933, she married Raymond M. Royle, who was employed by the Upjohn Company, with whom he stayed for 40 years.
They had two sons, Robert Warren Royle of Fort Myers, Fla. and James Gordon Royle of Saginaw, Mich.
Mary was a stay-at-home mom while also serving at various times as Sunday school teacher at First Methodist Church, Den Mother and Room Mother for her sons. She was also active in the American Association of University Women, her Book Club and the Kalamazoo Choral Society.
Mary also loved playing bridge with her many friends and was honored in 2010 by the American Contract Bridge League as a Life Grand Master.
A Celebration of Mary's Life, conducted by Rev. Sandy Elfring, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church, 212 S. Park St. Kalamazoo, Mich., where friends may meet with the family beginning at 1 p.m. prior to the service. A reception in the church parlors will follow, with a private interment at Mt. Ever Rest Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church or a charity of choice.
