William Dale McCoy, 64, of Marietta, passed away on Aug. 23, 2014, in the presence of family and friends.
He was born on Oct. 11, 1949, in Sewickley, Pa., to the late Dale C. and Sarah A. (Sally) McCoy.
Bill graduated from Marietta High School in 1968, and Bowling Green State University in 1972 with a Bachelor's degree in political science and education. Upon graduating, he returned to Marietta to begin his career. He worked for the State of Ohio Dept. of Job and Family Services for 29 years, retiring in December of 2012 as a regional coordinator. He was an active member of the community, attending Christ United Methodist Church, participating in the Marietta Noon Lions Club, on the board of the Boys & Girls Club, and was a Mason.
He is survived by his wife, Vicki Schwartz McCoy, whom he married on March 10, 1984; and his son, Samuel.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 30, at Christ United Methodist Church, 301 Wooster St, Marietta. Friends may visit from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Following the service, the Marietta Noon Lions Club will host a luncheon for all guests.
The family gives special thanks to the entire staff of the Strecker Cancer Center, and to all friends who gave support throughout his illness.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Marietta Noon Lions Scholarship Fund at the Marietta Community Foundation or the Washington County Boys & Girls Club.
