FAIRLEA, W.Va. (AP) — A Greenbrier County man has been charged with stealing $35,000 worth of lottery tickets at the State Fair of West Virginia.

State police tell media outlets that the scratch-off tickets were stolen from the West Virginia Lottery's booth at the fair on Wednesday night.

State police arrested 20-year-old Cody Arbuckle of Maxwelton the next day. He is charged with breaking and entering and grand larceny.

Arbuckle is accused of taking the tickets and then stuffing them into a trash can. State police say he dropped the trash can and fled when he was approached by two food service workers who saw him leaving the fairgrounds.

Arbuckle is being held at the Southern Regional Jail on $5,000 bond.
