"Union fat-cats...myth or reality?"

So...you think labor unions are run by cigar chomping "Union Fat Cats", who receive outrageous salaries and benefits, while living a life of luxury comparable to Saudi Arabian Princes, lording their unrestrained power over the entire United States of America... all on the backs of the union-enslaved workers they represent. Here's your chance to prove it.

Let's keep in mind that min. wage has not kept up with inflation. So while the average Mcworker doesn't deserve an increase to $15, they probably should be getting at least a few dollars more than they do get.

Can you say that even at that rate they still cant live on their own !

Ohwiseone

Ah yes the El Lardass effect ! No#1 I don't know about you but IF they get a raise I doubt it will be but a few pennies ! No#2 At that rate it will be a long time till 22 dollars an hour !And some McDonalds in Columbus already pay their employees around 15 dollars an hour plus benefits !That's what happens when they run out of people to take advantage of , nobody wants to work there !

Ohwiseone: who is to say that $15 dollars is the magic number? remember, if you start at $15 per hour and get raises every year, $22 is not that far off. Would you sing Two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions – on a sesame seed bun for $22 an hour and clean the bathrooms?

Bingo! They people who are picketing may no longer be the BEST people to choose from. Right now they are the people willing to work for $8 an hour. If the price goes up they may be out of a job as a more qualified (SMARTER) shows up for work. This whole thing is so short sighted.

@Beright- an increase in wage (it won't happen like they want it but let's ignore that for a moment) would make the companies more picky with whom they hire. If they get more picky with the quality of workers, then their should be an increase in quality with the product from at least a serving standpoint.

Ohwiseone

Nowhere have they said they want 22 dollars an hour ! That's a petty big jump even for a brainwashed republican !

BeRight

$22 per hour for making your Big Mac sounds about right.

It takes the same skill to remember Two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions – on a sesame seed bun as it does to weld, wouldn't you say?

Somewhere , somehow we have to be able to get a wage that a person can live on !The way the republicans are obstructing our economy there is no place left for these workers to go !What they want is indentured Servants ! Reagun started this "new world order " crap and it wasn't to bring the rest of the world up to our standard of living but to bring ours down to third world levels !

Comparing their campaign to the civil rights movement, fast food workers from across the country voted Saturday to escalate their efforts for $15-an-hour pay and union membership by using nonviolent civil disobedience......and who is supporting this non-sense………the Fat Cats at The Service Employees International Union. They has been providing financial and organizational support to the fast-food protests.

Like I read yesterday: “so we are going to pay someone $15 an hour now so they can still get my order wrong?”

Will my burger be better at $15 per hour or my French fries crispier?

Maybe at $15 an hour, the workers at Burger King will finally get around to cleaning the bathrooms.

RealClimate: Not the IPCC (“NIPCC”) Report~~~Some of us thought that the “NIPCC” report was so self-evidently nonsense ..... I predict that 2009 will be an even busier year for debunking :).
