"Union fat-cats...myth or reality?"

So...you think labor unions are run by cigar chomping "Union Fat Cats", who receive outrageous salaries and benefits, while living a life of luxury comparable to Saudi Arabian Princes, lording their unrestrained power over the entire United States of America... all on the backs of the union-enslaved workers they represent. Here's your chance to prove it.

THATS HOW MAKING A CHOICE IS NOT MAKING A CHOICE>

Although Unions are more into self survival now, they still have an organizing wing that tries to take over NON UNION work sites. If the workers have made a choice as you put it, to work NON union, why would you be trying to force a UNION ON THEM>>>> Your lies have been expoosed.

THose folks chose to work for a NON UNION SHOP yet the Union forced them into paying dues and working in a unionized shop. WHERE IS THE CHOICE?

OK MUNSTER, lets just say some union thugs come and succesfully organize a NON UNION shop. That is one of the things that Unions do. Say they get a majority to vote for the Union. NOW< what are the options for those that voted against organization>???? QUIT or JOIN

Why is joining a union part of a job responsibility? Joining a union and performing a job don’t seem to go together. Have a job being held hostage by a union never made sense to me.

why a person who is anti-union would seek a job at a union -shop: maybe that person has a wife and children and needs a job. If that person is qualified for the job and can do the work in question, why does he have to join the union to get that job

own employment terms regardless of a union-shop or not. whether you like it or not...you have placed an undue burden on the job seekers ability to gain employment without your union strings attached.

ok, lets talk about choice for a moment. as i have stated before i am not fond of any corporations entering into labor agreements for many reasons. i hold them to blame for allowing it. just like i am not fond of employers hiring through labor search firms or temporary agencies. while they serve a purpose by acting as a substitute human resource office, they also become a pay-to-work scheme. i do not feel that anyone should have to pay to work much less join an organization that is tied politically just to gain employment. what occurred during the unionization process has limited ones ablity to gain employment unhindered. the union and the company are limiting the job choice by requiring something other than job qualifications. suppose all of the employees got together and required joining the local moose lodge, vfw hall or even a religous institution to gain a position. you would not approve of that...now would you? personally i think anyone should have the right to negotiate their o

munster...no deflection my friend. just countering your slam against republicans by using the priceless and quotable example set by your poster-girl Hillary. you are proud of her...right?

munster, i take exception to your statement. i think hillary has pefected your claim as evidenced by her Benghazi testimony. remember that after the denial, dflection and lies...it doesn't matter who has died. telling truth no longer is important in your venerable democrats eye.

BeRight, the union leaders sound a bit like republicans...there may be hope for them yet!

It is the irony of the article that make it interesting, you know, the part about Union Leaders complaining that union members are taking advantage of work rules causing hardship on other union members.

It is the union leaders complaining that their members are taking advantage of the rules. I am not specualting. That what the story said, not me.

The Fire Union are the ones voicing the complaint. Another quote from the article: Fire administration and union heads have pleaded with the Department of Public Safety to amend the policy, arguing that the current system leaves the Division of Fire short-handed, lowers morale and violates a promise to serve the public.

A union member will always find away to abuse a benefit. The policy limits “light duty” to 90 days but some are on as long as a year. Battalion Chief Yolanda Arnold, 57, has been on light duty for six years. She initially was placed on light duty for anxiety in 2006. Six years of her annual salary — now at $109,000 — and the additional overtime and pay to have other supervisors cover her regular position add up to at least $1 million. Those are tax dollars.

Some Columbus Union firefighters have taken advantage of a loophole that allows them to sit behind a desk for years while recovering from an injury and still earn full pay.

And just what part of "go somewhere else and get a job" dont you understand ????

MUNSTER, you dont OWN the SHOP nor do you OWN the job. You contract your labor to the OWNER for a specific amount of time. You seem to think you own the business or something.
