"Union fat-cats...myth or reality?"

So...you think labor unions are run by cigar chomping "Union Fat Cats", who receive outrageous salaries and benefits, while living a life of luxury comparable to Saudi Arabian Princes, lording their unrestrained power over the entire United States of America... all on the backs of the union-enslaved workers they represent. Here's your chance to prove it.

It is the irony of the article that make it interesting, you know, the part about Union Leaders complaining that union members are taking advantage of work rules causing hardship on other union members.

It is the union leaders complaining that their members are taking advantage of the rules. I am not specualting. That what the story said, not me.

The Fire Union are the ones voicing the complaint. Another quote from the article: Fire administration and union heads have pleaded with the Department of Public Safety to amend the policy, arguing that the current system leaves the Division of Fire short-handed, lowers morale and violates a promise to serve the public.

A union member will always find away to abuse a benefit. The policy limits “light duty” to 90 days but some are on as long as a year. Battalion Chief Yolanda Arnold, 57, has been on light duty for six years. She initially was placed on light duty for anxiety in 2006. Six years of her annual salary — now at $109,000 — and the additional overtime and pay to have other supervisors cover her regular position add up to at least $1 million. Those are tax dollars.

Some Columbus Union firefighters have taken advantage of a loophole that allows them to sit behind a desk for years while recovering from an injury and still earn full pay.

And just what part of "go somewhere else and get a job" dont you understand ????

MUNSTER, you dont OWN the SHOP nor do you OWN the job. You contract your labor to the OWNER for a specific amount of time. You seem to think you own the business or something.

The fact that Unions are now political entities rather than representatives or the working class is obvious. Union folks are encouraged to vote against thier own interests by the Internationals on a routine basis. Unions used to be needed but now the hard fought gains are written into law and all they are left with is the extension of thier own power. Sad but true.

Right to work is the way to go. It gives a worker a choice to join a union or not. A job should not depend on whether or not you are a member of a union. If you are trained and qualified, you should get the job without having to pay forced union dues.
