"Union fat-cats...myth or reality?"

So...you think labor unions are run by cigar chomping "Union Fat Cats", who receive outrageous salaries and benefits, while living a life of luxury comparable to Saudi Arabian Princes, lording their unrestrained power over the entire United States of America... all on the backs of the union-enslaved workers they represent. Here's your chance to prove it.

Wonder why the conservative stranglehold on the Republican party has cost them the popular vote in 5 of the last 6 presidential elections, and got them actually less votes for the house than the Democrats got in 2012, well look no further.

Extend the protection of the Federal minimum wage laws to as many more workers as is possible and practicable;

Continue to fight for the elimination of discrimination in employment because of race, creed, color, national origin, ancestry or sex;

Provide assistance to improve the economic conditions of areas faced with persistent and substantial unemployment;

Revise and improve the Taft-Hartley Act so as to protect more effectively the rights of labor unions, management, the individual worker, and the public.

The protection of the right of workers to organize into unions and to bargain collectively is the firm and permanent policy of the Eisenhower Administration.

The Eisenhower Administration will continue to fight for dynamic and progressive programs which, among other things, will:

Stimulate improved job safety of our workers, through assistance to the States, employees and employers;

Continue and further perfect its programs of assistance to the millions of workers with special employment problems, such as older workers, handicapped workers, members of minority groups, and migratory workers;

Strengthen and improve the Federal-State Employment Service and improve the effectiveness of the unemployment insurance system;

Protect by law, the assets of employee welfare and benefit plans so that workers who are the beneficiaries can be assured of their rightful benefits;

Assure equal pay for equal work regardless of Sex;

Federally-assisted construction, and maintain and continue the vigorous administration of the Federal prevailing minimum wage law for public supply contracts;

Extend the protection of the Federal m

Ever notice the Socialists have such good ideas that they have to force people to do them or they don't work

Let union workers opt out of dues money going for political donations. That's fair. Won't happen because of folks like Munster who know they would lose the ability to buy votes.

If everyone is so happy in the Union and supports the political donations, give the a choice. That's fair isn't it Munster? Let them choose to stay in the union they are so happy with without the threat of losing those job. According to you they will all gladly reaffirm their love for the union and stay. But you know they would run like a rabbit if they could but won't admit it.

A school district is attempting to force teachers to pay union dues for the next 10 years, despite being located in Michigan, which is now a right-to-work state that specifically prohibits mandatory unionization.

Michigan became the 24th right-to-work state in December. But the law doesn’t take effect until March 28 — giving unions time to grandfather in their contracts if they can get them approved before the deadline. As part of this effort, the Taylor School District approved an entirely separate “union security agreement” that will force teachers to keep paying the union until 2023. But three Taylor teachers who want to leave the union said enough is enough. “I believe it is unfair of the union to have a security clause that requires me to be a member for 10 years,” said Rebecca Metz, a Taylor teacher.

A lawyer representing the three teachers framed the issue as a clear case of a union and a school district attempting to thwart the will of the legislature.

BeRight

The facts are plain and simple, under the current federal law no worker can be forced to join a union or pay dues for political purposes: Why is it that the Unions want to eliminate secret ballots when workers vote to be unionized?

You have really bought into this rep vs dem thing. Did I ever say that the republicans were virtuous or even my party of choice? No. But you make up your own realities in you little brain to justify your BS. You claim that I was never in a union. That's a lie but you don't care, if you think it advances your argument you will lie about something you know nothing of. You will not ever look at and question your own assumptions out of fear I supppse. You meet every criticism with " you eighties blah blah". Not exactly reasoned defense. But you do support socialist agendas or at least on this forum. I have no idea what you really believe and I am starting to think you don't either

No one hates unions for the needed work they performed in the PAST. We hate unions for becoming partisan socialists that are shills for the DNC. We hate the thug nature of the organizations and the fact they have no place in goverment.

be so anti -freedom and anti-living wage is just nutty !For the life of me I cant fathom how the righties here can harbor such hate against a organization that has benefited almost all working americans ! Through the efforts of unions there are things like child labor laws, 40 hr work week, insurance, sick pay, increased safety,vacations , and the list goes on and on ! Why cant these weak-minded brain-washed "people" understand that without union struggles we would all still be working 80hr weeks ,6 days a week for nearly nothing ! Thats not democracy thats still slavery !

Wow , what a line of crap !! So I suppose this is your new "go to" website ! Well thats their opinion as idiotic as it is !Unions are still the line in the sand for the safety of workers ! And unions assure workers rights and keep businesses from taking advantage of workers ! I think the history of unions tells the true story ! Things like the 40 hr work week , child labor laws , paid vacations , sick days , and the list goes on and on ! You may not be union but you can thank unions for what benefits you get !When poor wrongriki cant find a VALID arguement this is the garbage you have to deal with !
