"Union fat-cats...myth or reality?"

So...you think labor unions are run by cigar chomping "Union Fat Cats", who receive outrageous salaries and benefits, while living a life of luxury comparable to Saudi Arabian Princes, lording their unrestrained power over the entire United States of America... all on the backs of the union-enslaved workers they represent. Here's your chance to prove it.

If one is to make an educated decision, you only have to look at the statistics on the U.S. Census website and see the big difference of medium income of right to work states compared to collective bargaining states.

Why the attack on American workers?

The so-called Right to Work or Workplace Freedom Act is a play on words to confuse the voting public. This is nothing but legislation to help put an end to union representation.

Under right-to-work law, employees who are covered under a union contract would have the right not to pay union dues, but still have to be represented by the union. This legislation is nothing more than a way to hurt unions by wasting valuable resources on representing non-dues-paying members.

Ohio workers already have workplace rights guaranteed by the National Labor Relations Act, which says any one has the right to join or not join a union. If proponents of Right to Work cared about your right, why would they fight the NLRB ruling to post this right in the work place?

Michigan and Indiana became Right to Work states over a year ago and their unemployment rates are higher than Ohio. Is this good for Ohio?

If right to work does not poll well, well you simply put the word freedom in place right, most uneducated folks will vote for freedom, the thing is most people who are for right to work are also against the minimum wage, for comp. Time instead oftime and a half, against collective bargaining, against maternity leave, against equal pay for women, etc....

10. Power of labor suppressed or eliminated

Since organized labor was seen as the one power center that could challenge the political hegemony of the ruling elite and its corporate allies, it was inevitably crushed or made powerless. The poor formed an underclass, viewed with suspicion or outright contempt. Under some regimes, being poor was considered akin to a vice.

Right-to-work legislation is now being pushed by right wing, pro-corporate legislators nationally in order to break the power of unions, which now only represent 9 percent of workers in private industry in the U.S. Right-to-work would bar unions from collecting dues from all represented workers, while still requiring unions to represent all workers. It would reverse previous union elections won by unions in which the entire unit had elected to be represented by unions, breaking the unity needed by labor to have any power.
