Daily breaking news and news the liberal media doesn't want you to know, won't report, or just daily news issues.

Americans for many years have had to rely on left leaning biased news reporting from liberal media such as NBC, ABC, and CBS and the New York Times. As most of these outlets struggle to remain on the air and in print, the new media is flourishing and people are hearing both sides of the issues. This forum will provide people with a place to discuss daily news issues of any kind or discuss articles not printed or aired by the liberal news outlets.

U.S. lawmakers have quietly gone along with an annual salary freeze since 2010, but a Virginia Democrat has had enough and said members of Congress are underpaid.

Representative Jim Moran,Democrat, who is not seeking re-election in November.................(what a brave politician he is) complained about the low pay.

I mean its obvious whats going on. We have these companies who break the law and get fined but the profit they make is massive compared to the fine so the fine...they look at that as a cost of doing business.

Then you have the hilarious issue of conservatives wanting Obama to go after pot users and punish them...but when it comes to big financial institutions breaking laws and endangering and damaging our economy.

Not a thing is done to those folks.

I mean its obvious whats going on. We have these companies who break the law and get fined but they the profit they make is massive compared to the fine so they fine...they look at that as a cost of doing business.

And nothing is done.

Its hilarious that conservatives who place a high value on what is right and wrong go after potheads breaking the law (because you know it does lead to the breakdown of society:sarcasm)and completely ignore the companies that truthfully hurt this nation and our society.

Its hilarious in a sickening way.

Those actions and policies pursued by conservatives are the antithesis of the freedom that we supposedly hold dear.

Alright here is a question that needs to be asked by those who say progressives are out to "control" the population of this country.

Is that their singular aim? Or is the "control" just a side effect of the policies that progressives pursue?

This whole aspect of control is interesting in that we see conservatives getting up in arms about so called controls being put in place over people and themselves but yet we see them putting place laws that are meant to insure that their opponents have a harder time getting elected by changing voting laws, their religious rights are upheld and given more weight than the personal freedoms of others(the gay rights issue and contraceptive/abortion issue).

They are trying to control the freedom of others whom they do not agree with or have a problem with. I mean we all know what these new voting laws are about. Its to make it more difficult for a certain part of our population to vote and elect another Barack Obama.

A person that will work five days a week for years should enjoy more than a poverty level wage.We had no accountability for the billions that changed hands in the near past.Could that be an example of the freedom you desire? I can't trust the plutocrats on the right with my money and freedoms.

Sure. As technology, inventions, productivity improvements, health care innovations and discoveries, and if generational learning takes place as it should, of course mankind should be safer, stronger, smarter and more "civilized". History shows that crediting people and organizations who want to exercise control over a population ("progressives") leads to oligarchy, corruption, tyranny, and tragedy. Freedom will generate real progress. The Socialists in the CFAP can not be trusted with my freedom nor my money.

Not all on the right take an extremist view, nor do all on the left hold uber progressive values. As for the rights of the person on the street,it can be said they have many more than their ancestors. They may generally be assured that they will not unnecessarily lose their life in the workplace, and that their food and water supplies are not tainted with toxins. And that if there are incidents, there will be accountability.Civilization has a price attached.

Take a look at the "progressive" aggressive Center for American Progress Action Fund ... the policy positions, the means to their ends, etc. Strickland's new "work" will be promoting agendas of more and bigger Centralized Government control over aspects of American life and business. All that control requires bigger bureaucracy. All that bureaucracy requires money. By definition, "progressives" are pickpockets who use the law to do what they could not do one-on-one, on the street, to a free Citizen. This is not a spiritual activity. Sorry. I would respect him had he devoted his talents to some private charity work. C.F.A.P. ? Again, sorry.

Wddim-I must say,you haven't dropped your cynical views.I have known Ted for 25 years, and there is nothing neo- marxist about him.He is spiritual man who lives his Christian upbringing and formal religious education.

Why do you suppose everyone left when The Times went to pay to view?

Not sure since you don't have to pay to comment...what's with that??...

Strickland took a job heading up a neo-marxist money laundering outfit. No surprise. Failed as a Governor, maybe he can fail as head cheerleader and panhandler for the libs now.

BobDahler, yes it is nice...although the absence of many posters does beg the question you asked. i am not certain if they felt that they would not be able to comment and have yet to try or this just may be a silent protest. your guess would be as good as mine in this case. unfortunately i just rolled out of the rack and need to do the coffee, shower, shave thing for an evening engagement, otherwise we could have that conversation regarding business and sports. i it would be an interesting topic. have a great evening.

Afternoon, lts. I was thinking along the line of equipment, uniforms, etc. Perhaps not the best correlation... But money is made off pee-wee sports none the less.

It's nice to be able to reply hours after the fact, without the necessity of filtering through page after page of spam. Why do you suppose everyone left when The Times went to pay to view?

lts: "will grade school athletics be the next to feel the suckers of the unions (business) as they feed to fill their coffers."

Oh, snap! Business already has, but that's OK, right?

moderation...that is hwy they have offered medical and accident insurnce policies. in addition at age 18 one can purchase insurance policies on their own that protect them against what you suggested. i could understand the argument if the players were being traded bwteen teams or even required to sign non-compete agreemenst as well as providing royalties to their former schools after going pro. in addition, college atheletes can leave and go pro anytime they wish. we should not turn colleges and universities into professional sports leagues...do you not think amateur sports have been ruined enough already?

lts- not all of those kids are on scholarship and while making bucks for the home, they could easily become injured and be ruined for life.Maybe they could earn minimum wage for their practice and playing time, to offset possible disabling injuries. They are mostly older than 18, whereas grade school and high schoolers generally are under 18,and the parents shoulder the responsibility
