| Latest Post: Started By: Rank: Category A new documentary film, "Looking for Superman" suggests that American education is severly flawed. Is this view justified? As a former history teacher, I believe that the majority of today's public issues are rooted in the quality - or lack thereof - of American education. Never in my own memory have I noticed so many students (and adults) who are so uninformed about even the most basic facts of history, civics, geography ... Recent studies suggest that U.S. schools rank well below other nations in the disciplines of math and science ... "Waiting for Superman" (which needs to be shown locally) says that the "blame" or "responsibility" for this sad state of affairs rests upon several factors - i.e. the distractions of TV and computer games; teachers' unions that support "tenure" for some incompetent teachers; uncaring parents; "pressure groups" that demonize public education to promote private, sectarian schools; politicians who burden schools with "unfunded mandates" like "No Child Left Behind" ... Or is it "all of the above" Member CommentsR1KRA8A long-time retired USW union member does not want a NEA Union Boss to lose her right to put the compulsory dues screw to today’s teachers.

Munsterright to work is wrong". c om Lets end this republican war on working people “Right-to-work” laws are outdated and a throw-back to the anti-union agenda of another era. “Right-to-work” state laws are redundant and unneeded when the current federal law is actually examined. “Right-to-work” laws represent destructive economic development policy guided by extreme partisan politics. The goal should be to raise the standard of living for hard-working families, not lower it. Hard-working families deserve better than an antiquated law designed to raise corporate profits and lower worker wages and benefits. "right to work is wrong". c om Posted 44 days ago. Munster"right to work is wrong".co m Seems to me and most others that your afraid of the truth ! When a person CHOOSES to go to work , they either CHOOSE to work at NO#1 Union shop or they CHOOSE to work at a non-union shop ! So they are CHOOSING , now why does wrongriki want to try and cover that fact up ? Its because that makes its blather nothing but LIES !!Remember the republican mantra " deny, deflect, mis-lead and lie "right to work is wrong".co m Posted 44 days ago. R1KRA8Poor thing . . . But your constanrt denial of FACTS comes as NO SURPRISE since you have never had a job much less a union job ! Most would think that you, being supported by the taxes of hard working people would at least acknowledge that unions have benefited all labor !
