What happened to the "Union Influence in Politics" topic?

Even though I initiated it as the debut topic in the Times forums, I'm happy to realize it has been deleted. It died an ugly death long ago, and should have been executed long before it was. I'm curious though... Why? I am unaware of the travesty that occurred that was sufficiently heinous to warrant it's deletion... As compared to the tripe on ALL the other threads that is evident on a daily basis.

munster, check your facts my friend. according to abc news the top ten politicians in america contain 60% democrat, 40% republican and 10% independent. you may wish to check on the cngress and senate...but i think you will find an equal blend of dem and rep.

Unions need to do two things if they are to survive. 1 Stop blindly following the DNC 2 Compete for thier wages instead of trying to shut out competition. If they are smart, they will invest thier money in training instead of Power buying, and create the finest craftsmen in the world through training. THEN and ONLY then will they be worth any wage they ask.

The Progressives you support are the ones that dont want anyone to be wealthy. They are elitist that wish to tax the*****out of us all to purchase power for themselves from those that would not work, union or non union.

sad about your indoctrination. btw, you may not have noticed but you folks have minimum wage jobs in your neck of the woods. you are just showing your regional prejudice against the south. we will gladly let your companies bring jobs down here...but keep your unions and high taxes up there. they have served you so well.

would the decline of manufacturing in the usa be a major contributing factor to the loss of union jobs and membership?

munster, contrary to what you may believe, not everyone gets their "tripe" as you call it from some right-wing propganda machine. some, like me, use my life experience and logic to form opinions. quite possibly you may wish to accept that there are others that view the world differently than you. i have come to terms with that myself. reality check here for you dear friend...you have posted many times how all one needs to do is come down to the hall and tell your union members how downtrodden they are. i think all i did was ask you why the threat or dare? you can not possibly defend the violent nature of your unions legacy with a straight face can you? a simple invitaion to see the other side would have been more persuasive argument in defense of your statement. however, i do think you meant exactly what i understood it to mean. look i think its great that you enjoyed your union and it benefitted you, but you deny basic truths that everyone knows exists. that is what is so

Your envy of the supposed 2 percent shows your class based envy. Yet you support these rich aristocrats in Washinton that give you lip service while selling our jobs to Mexico.

How nice that the Rank and file paid for the nails for thier own gallows.

Posted 614 days ago.

Tiredofit

SO they supported CLinton with millions in rank and file dues despite the fact he was about to sell thier jobs out??? Is that what you are saying?

Posted 614 days ago.

Tiredofit

THe system is NOT skewed toward the wealthy as much as it is toward those that work hard and take risks.

Munster you are INDEED a socialist or at least you spew the class based bile that they do. Envy is a sin, Socialism is just a Govt sanctioned version of that sin.

The Unions supported NAFTA and the candidate that pushed it. WHY you might ask?? Becasue unions are failing in the US but Mexico is ripe with poor working conditions and the chance to organize. Who cares what the wages are, its a mathmatical equation. The more workers you can get paying dues, the more power you have.

It is quite clear that NAFTA would not have helped the rank and file of my union. So why did the BA insist that we should vote for CLINTON?? Did he represent my best interest or was it a politcal motive. I have a theory.

Munster if you had read my post, I have been in the HALL. I have been on that side of the coin so what is your point.
