Are "gun-rights" advocates who say they "need" combat-style weaponry to "protect the nation from dictatorship" dangerous anarchists who are endangering the REAL Second-Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans with their paranoid, anti-government rants?

None of the recent suggested actions by the President or the Biden task force concerning universal background checks or the regulation of military-style weapons and high-capacity magazines poses a serious threat to the Second Amemdment rights of law-abiding Americans ... Yet, NRA honcho Wayne LaPierre, and the usual gaggle of hotheads that support him, say that Americans need to be "ready if necessary" to use these weapons to fight against "dictatorship". What "dictatorship"? This isn't Syria or Nazi Germany. The only actions relating to guns that President Obama took during his first term was to allow guns to be taken on board AMTRAK trains and brought into national parks ... Do the paranoid and delusional beliefs of some (though not all) gun-advocates disqualify them from being mentally sound enough to purchase or own guns? The 2008 "Heller v District of Columbia" ruling says that the government DOES have a right to prohibit mentally-defective

Again Munster is unable to force his faulty logic and his tyranny in the forums, the long-time retired ‘dues exempt’ united steelworkers member continues to solely rely on name-calling, insults, and wild unproven claims about others.

by Scott Clement,Washington Post. 90 percent of Americans want expanded background checks on guns. Why isn’t this a political slam dunk? Nine in 10 Americans support expanding background checks on gun purchases in a recent Washington Post-ABC News poll, an extraordinary level of agreement on a political issue and a finding that’s been duplicated in nearly every major public poll. Now what else do you want to be debunked about ??? Theres your valid rebuttal ! And dum-dum , if you had ever worked you would know that once retired ex-workers dont pay dues ! But you wont learn that collecting welfare and foodstamps !

“Gallup polling shows Americans are not prepared to relinquish their Second Amendment rights, as majorities reject banning the possession of handguns by civilians, or even outlawing the manufacture or possession of certain "semi-automatic guns known as assault rifles"; but they are clearly more open to further restricting the sale of guns, including with more background checks and bans on high-capacity magazines.”

I wouldn't worry too much about Wayne losing his job, most NRA members I know believe he's doing a great job.

So tell me. If Foxnews is so full of bull, why do they have CREDIBLE people that give their names when they break stories??? Especially when no other network cares to air it!!

Oneill, the only way you think you can win a debate is to degrade the other person. Trying to make the NRA look lkike a bunch of revolutionist is alarmist of YOUR part. We will stick to writing congressmen and women. Truth is, your idiots came up with a bill proposal that everyone in their right mind would only punish the legal gun owners!! How is that gonna prevent massacres like Sandy Hook?? Even Biden said it wouldn't have changed anything !!Go back to researching your Communist Manifesto.

Jim Porter was the first vice-president, who becomes the new president upon the end of the current president's term ending.

The NRA Board of Directors is elected by members. The voting members of board members for the association are any Life Member (or above), or an annual member of more than 5 consecutive years membership.

Your side has tried to claim gun makers are the only members of the board, which is a flat-out lie. The board consists of 76 members, 75 elected for 3 year terms, electing 25 members every year. One special one term member is elected every year as well.

The board has members connected with gun makers, it also has members who are leaders of state and local gun organizations. Some at-large members, like Ted Nugent and Tom Selleck are also members of the board. Most any member of the NRA could become a board member if they choose to run for a seat.

So? I like progressive websites (and, despite the wishes of rightie wingnuts, they're still perfectly legal) ... None of these sites advise readers to overthrow the government. None shill for cash-hungry creeps who sell weapons that kill kids!

“AlterNet, a project of the non-profit Independent Media Institute, is a progressive/liberal activist news service.”

“Truthout is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, progressive news organization in the United States that operates a web site and distributes a daily newsletter.”

I'm NOT the one making folks like the Greek "look like psychos". He's doing a pretty good job of that all by himself ... Speaking of hypocrites - while speakers like Sister Sarah and Ted Cruze are yapping about "freedom" at the NRA fibfest, Jim Porter, the new NRA President was NOT elected by rank-and-file NRA members, but by the NRA Board of Directors headed by (guess who?) Wayne LaPierre, who will continue to serve as NRA Executive Vice-President, and be the "voice" of NRA "authority" on shows like "Meet the Press" and "FOX and Fiends" ... That's probably just as well, because Alabama attorney Porter makes LaPierre look like Piers Morgan. I kid you not! Jim Porter calls the Civil War "the War of Northern Agression" and rivals the Greek in his belief in "secret conspiracies" alleging that some "New World Order" is about to be set up to confiscate every gun in the world and steal all the wing-nut
