Are "gun-rights" advocates who say they "need" combat-style weaponry to "protect the nation from dictatorship" dangerous anarchists who are endangering the REAL Second-Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans with their paranoid, anti-government rants?

None of the recent suggested actions by the President or the Biden task force concerning universal background checks or the regulation of military-style weapons and high-capacity magazines poses a serious threat to the Second Amemdment rights of law-abiding Americans ... Yet, NRA honcho Wayne LaPierre, and the usual gaggle of hotheads that support him, say that Americans need to be "ready if necessary" to use these weapons to fight against "dictatorship". What "dictatorship"? This isn't Syria or Nazi Germany. The only actions relating to guns that President Obama took during his first term was to allow guns to be taken on board AMTRAK trains and brought into national parks ... Do the paranoid and delusional beliefs of some (though not all) gun-advocates disqualify them from being mentally sound enough to purchase or own guns? The 2008 "Heller v District of Columbia" ruling says that the government DOES have a right to prohibit mentally-defective

Funny, I'm seeing the "tea leaves" much differently. We have historical evidence from 1996 that shows legislators who voted to restrict Constitutional rights got to visit the unemployment office. Matter of fact, if my memory is correct, our current Govenor is one of those lawmakers. I rest assured that if my memory of this fails me, I'll be quickly corrected.

You do realize that some of the Senators who voted against this have a "D" behind their name?

Remember the last mid -term election and how it led to the current boondoggle , well this time around the pendulum swings the other way !

Well, stick, I believe the 80+% (civilians) that are in favor of background checks are gonna make those nay saying senators and representatives look for new employment. And, that will only be the beginning of new firearm legislation. The mood of John Q moved left during the last election because they want their interests represented, not the interests of the likes of the gun manufacturers. The party of 'no' is getting closer to the party of 'no more'. They are running out of the old guys. It is best to cut ones' losses and still maintain some influence.si o no?

The background check bill went down in flames in the Senate. The Junior Senator from West Virginia is gonna face a real rough road when he comes up for re-election! Toomey likely ain't gonna have a bunch of friends when his next run comes along either.

There has been a Supreme Court decision saying they have the right. Too bad the home of the Obama political machine has made new rules to restrict them. And the lawsuits continue.

As for the claim that law abiding citizens being armed doesn't stop violent crime, look to Kennesaw, GA, where their law is all homeowners must have firearms in their home. Though the population of that town has grown by leaps and bounds, their police force remains the same size as it was decades ago. And they have the least amount of crime of any city in the Atlanta metro area.

You say we'll forget immediately after this anti-gun attempt is over? Don't bet the farm on that Bubba!

Fact is that once this is over and done and your right-wing garbage factories quit talking about it you'll never remember it happened !

Munster idiotically says -And again if the pool of available weapons shrinks so will the violent crimes shrink ! Again, you need to look at Chicago - the citizens there are BEGGING to get those arms back. The ones YOU say will make everyone else safer !!! RIGHT !!! NOT.. You are an internet bully. If you were on the street, you would be a street bully.!!

There is no sense in discussing anything with Munster. That is probably why he is on the computer so much. His family cant stand to discuss anything with him because he does not allow intelligence to enter into the conversation !! Just repeats "no civilian needs an assault rifle". "no civilian needs an assault rifle" "no civilian needs an assault rifle" That is his intelligence!!No supporting evidence at all.

What a naïve comment! Since it's a FACT that poor, uneducated terrorists in Afghanistan can manufacture a fairly accurate and deadly firearm using just basic handtools and scavenged metal, guns aren't gonna disappear.

Have you been in the pot harvest from last year again? You gotta be doing some serious drugs to come up with that hippie BS!

Just what part of "shall not be infringed" is so difficult for you to understand?

AND AGAIN, munster, your reaction to stick's posting that just preceded yours and you previous statements about YOUR KNOWLEDGE of the laws governing the ownership of 'destructive devices', there's ample evidence that YOU don't know what you're talking about.

Maybe there's a place for you in either Democratic politics or, more likely, a Mainstream Media commentator.

Watch "Son's Of Gun's", their new season starts this week on the Discovery Channel, I believe this Friday evening. You'd be amazed at what one can own given the proper licenses and a REALLY big checking account balance or credit card with a high credit limit.

But, like I saidn it's all heavily regulated. And, it's not a problem.

Even this idiotic background check legislation they're debating won't change anything. Police have been asked why the violations of current background checks aren't prosecuted, and replied that they lack the manpower to deal with trivial issues like that. We've got states kicking violent offenders out of prison for lack of space. So what is passing more laws, that can't (and won't) be enforced proving? NOTHING!

Passing laws only law abiding people will follow will not end gun violence!

Again , pointing out your idiocy !! Learn from it !

Poor thing . . . a retired ‘dues exempt’ union ‘free rider’ member of United Steelworkers Local 1-0063 cannot conjure up a valid rebuttal on any of the forum topics so he has resigned to repeating himself over and over.
