| Latest Post: Started By: Rank: Category Are "gun-rights" advocates who say they "need" combat-style weaponry to "protect the nation from dictatorship" dangerous anarchists who are endangering the REAL Second-Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans with their paranoid, anti-government rants?None of the recent suggested actions by the President or the Biden task force concerning universal background checks or the regulation of military-style weapons and high-capacity magazines poses a serious threat to the Second Amemdment rights of law-abiding Americans ... Yet, NRA honcho Wayne LaPierre, and the usual gaggle of hotheads that support him, say that Americans need to be "ready if necessary" to use these weapons to fight against "dictatorship". What "dictatorship"? This isn't Syria or Nazi Germany. The only actions relating to guns that President Obama took during his first term was to allow guns to be taken on board AMTRAK trains and brought into national parks ... Do the paranoid and delusional beliefs of some (though not all) gun-advocates disqualify them from being mentally sound enough to purchase or own guns? The 2008 "Heller v District of Columbia" ruling says that the government DOES have a right to prohibit mentally-defective Member CommentsMunsterRikra8, really makes people realize what quality of people support gun control heh?~~~Greek ~~ That pretty well sums it up ! TiredofitI see Fred is selling the line "if you don't have anything to hide you won't mind having you rights violated". This is the real danger in the progressive big Govt agenda. They are Soooo willing to hand over liberty for some perception of a false security. Of course that means my liberty as well. Government cannot protect you nor will they. Posted 42 days ago. TiredofitFred, be as unkind as you like, you are completely powerless over me or anyone else that posts here. Your masturbatory rants only amuse thinking people and show you for the small bitter socialist that you are. If they have any effect at all, its to drive people away from your position as siding with someone so vile and hateful dorsnt set well with most people. Have a nice day. Posted 42 days ago. stickhaulerFreddie, Lanza had THREE 30 round magazines. He fired approximately 150 rounds. So, he did reload! The proposed legislation they plan to debate in the Senate doesn't do anything that would have stopped Lanza. It will only infringe on law abiding gun owners, the ONLY gun owners who will comply with it if passed. Where is the legislation that deals with mentally ill people who have shown they are a danger to society? Or is that not politically correct? Posted 42 days ago. KunectdotsYou return those that are under command of the civilian leadership to only having flintlocks or figure a way for our nation to SAFELY survive in today's world WITHOUT a standing army, then will talk about the further disarmament of the American public. Posted 42 days ago. KunectdotsMunster - To Your Question Posed to Me- I ANSWER; The founding fathers were unconcerned with plinking or hunting when they crafted the 2nd Amendment. Many of them, although AGAINST THE CONCEPT of standing armies still insisted that the power of the people to rebel against usurpations of their rights, by FUTURE authoritarian government, be left in place. Well, their posterity lost the status of NOT HAVING a standing army that was originally hardly better equipped than the US civilians (Fred Oneill's Brown Bess). Killing technologies advanced and the American people were keeping astride with the possible future tyrants until the 1930's, when Mid-Western bank robbers caused the private ownership of TRUE assault weapons to become illegal for public possession. Now, you and your Ilk want to make rifles that LOOK LIKE assault weapons illegal. I'm still siding with the founding fathers on this one. Shoot, he may have even obtained them from Eric Holder if he would have just asked.. Posted 43 days ago. thegreekThere is no fibbing on the part of the NRA.!! They are common people standing up against some air head lawmakers proposal that is not gonna help at all as Joe Biden already admitted. "Nothing we are gonna do would have prevented Newtown" is exactly what HE said and he was at least being honest !!! SO why is everyone wasting their time proposing sweeping gun laws??? There is a hidden agenda !!It is obvious !! Posted 43 days ago. thegreekPresently everytime I buy a gun my backround is checked.!! If a crimminal tries to buy one and is denied, is he arrested as present law mandates?? NO.. So what good is expanding the laws gonna do?? Posted 43 days ago. oneill@Greek - FYI, my "maker" might resemble Charlton Heston, and I will gladly discuss the issue with him in the hereafter, but fibmeister Wayne LaPierre is more like the "other guy" in the "other place"! Hope you'll all be happy there! Posted 43 days ago. oneillbackgrounds ... Just because criminals don't obey laws does not mean that - as Stick said about twelve-pages ago (before Tired & Lovey started their ten-page filibuster to distract readers from a topic they'd rather not discuss) - that laws are irrelevant! ... The FACT (I know how much you guys hate the word) remains that, if Lanza had not had access to several 30-round magazines, he would have had to reload and more children could have escaped ... Here's a novel idea! How about discussing THAT instead of the weather or how much you like digging up stuff in the garden! Posted 43 days ago. oneill@Greek - Some gun-owners are innocent, and some are not ... Adam Lanza's mother was one of those "law-abiding" types you mention, yet, to her own detriment, she allowed her arsenal of weapons to fall into the hands of her psycho son (she even took him to gun-shows and to shooting ranges where he learned how to become proficient with these weapons ... 40% of gun-sales are conducted at gun shows and other more personal venues that peddle the most dangerous weapons with no questions asked ... I read your rants and those of Stick and I understand some of your concern. Yet, I see no danger for the REAL "law-abiding" gun-owners in any of the proposed restrictions (most, like the universal background check notion, are merely beefing up existing laws). The only thing that gives me some concern about where BOTH of you are coming from is the fact that, if you really ARE "law-abiding citizens", you shouldn't fear someone checking out your criminal or mntal-health ba Posted 43 days ago. thegreekOneill, be as "unkind" as you want. Posted 43 days ago. thegreekOneill, why don't you concentrate on the NUT with the gun instead of the gun. 99 percent of us legal gun owners do not deserve this scrutiny that you are so determined to dump on us. But we have discussed this before and in your zealousness to crimminalize us all, you keep rubbing the Ct tradgedy in our innocent faces!!That is why we ssek refuge with Mr LaPierre. He is at least balanced and seeks justice against those that are guilty and not the innocent like you and Biden and Barry and their minions. Posted 43 days ago. oneillI also see that KullectROT, our resident (or is he P-burg's "resident"?) "expert" on non-existent "conspiracies" has read my April 7th letter in The News/Sentinel. Kunnect's views on the matter are - to borrow from Shakespeare's "Macbeth", "a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing!" ... FYI - Like Macbeth", the nutjob at Lone Star Community College used a knife, not an AR-15! Notice how little damage he did and how quickly he was put out of commission and into the slammer! Posted 43 days ago. oneill@Tired - I see no evidence that you have "educated" yourself about anything. I DO see lots of evidence that you, "Gollum", the Greek, and the Stick are merely parroting Wayne LaPierre and morons in the U.S. Senate like Mitch McConnell, Ted Cruise, Rand Paul, James Inhofe, ad. nauseum who want to change the subject of the gun-debate ... I've got news for you - the "Connecticut Effect" is STILL in effect on this site ... FYI - If you think that "Munster" has been treating you "unkind", keep up with the silly distractions on this topic, and see how "unkind" I can get with "gun-geeks" who care more about their "toys" than they do the lives of children!
