Are "gun-rights" advocates who say they "need" combat-style weaponry to "protect the nation from dictatorship" dangerous anarchists who are endangering the REAL Second-Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans with their paranoid, anti-government rants?

None of the recent suggested actions by the President or the Biden task force concerning universal background checks or the regulation of military-style weapons and high-capacity magazines poses a serious threat to the Second Amemdment rights of law-abiding Americans ... Yet, NRA honcho Wayne LaPierre, and the usual gaggle of hotheads that support him, say that Americans need to be "ready if necessary" to use these weapons to fight against "dictatorship". What "dictatorship"? This isn't Syria or Nazi Germany. The only actions relating to guns that President Obama took during his first term was to allow guns to be taken on board AMTRAK trains and brought into national parks ... Do the paranoid and delusional beliefs of some (though not all) gun-advocates disqualify them from being mentally sound enough to purchase or own guns? The 2008 "Heller v District of Columbia" ruling says that the government DOES have a right to prohibit mentally-defective

Moderation: I agree with universal checks.

So let’s move on. Universal checks will prevent felons and other previous lawbreakers from getting guns but we currently do not prosecute all attempts by these folks from trying to by a gun which is against the law. Why is that? I don’t know.

Universal background checks will make you feel good but until the Gov’t complies a searchable list of the diagnosed mentally ill, schizophrenics, bipolar etc, (illnesses you can have and pass a background check) you will be missing the on the large population who are most likely to commit the crimes that we find so disgusting. You don’t see anyone rushing this idea to the forefront because the ACLU will fight this as a privacy issue.

You don't see suicide shooters go in to gun stores and shoot the place up now do you??? Wonder why?

Pretty hard to ask a dead man why he chose a "gun free zone" and get proof but it doesn't take a genius to figure out.

I have several long time acquaintances, from the law enforcement community, beright, that are supportive of universal background checks. so, you shared the media's' view, what do you have to say, personally, about the message?

I guess a correction is needed. Freddie sez that "gun free" zones DON'T attract shooters. Those scenes of mass killings I listed pretty much disagree with that "logic."

Every time BO makes a speech on gun control he has policeman on the stage behind him. The media is now calling this the BO “Cops as Props” tour.

Munster - "So let me get this straight...Liberals say that having a universal background check and registering all guns is not an infringement upon someone's rights...but asking someone to prove they're a US Citizen and show an ID to vote is?"

You claim there is evidence that "gun free" zones attract shooters? You need look no further than Columbine, Virginia Tech, Auroea, and Newtown for evidence, unless you choose to be blind.

There are 2 constants with all those sites of mass killings. Number one, the shooter/shooters were mentally ill.

Number 2, in all the cases, the shooter/shooters KNEW they'd likely face no resistance.

The Auroea murderer selected the theater out of many in the town, several that he would have passed enroute to the ONLY theater in Auroea showing the Batman film that didn't allow concealed carry holders to enter armed.

You think these killers decided to go to a place they knew there was little chance of anyone fighting back by chance?

Is that all you've got Freddie? Cheap shots and quips?

Tell you what guy, the day you actually try to discuss something here, rather than pontificate, perhaps people will take you seriously.Since you and Bob seem to be on the same wavelength, why aren't you calling for your little toady Munster to accurately doscribe what a civilian model modern sporting rifle is? Or does that conflict with your leftist agenda?

Can gun-magazines be used more than once? Not if we start using the "Guns & Ammo" magazine as toilet paper!

Posted 76 days ago.

I see that KullectROT is back and citing more crap from gun-fetish websites like the alleged "Americans for Gun Safety" ... I presume that next he will cite "Weekly World News" to "prove" that folks from the Andromeda Galaxy are plotting to steal everyone's guns ...

orifice and spreads here on a daily basis! Oh what have I done? Now Twiggy will start whining again!

Yesterday's NRA report from the hired committee chaired by Asa Hutchinson was fact-checked and it turned out that it was full of faked data - i.e. a school-shooting in Minnesota that never happened, fibs about how "gun-free" zones "attract" shooters (no evidence of this has been produced), and references to how the "brave" security guard at Columbine went into action and stopped the shooters (he didn't!) ... So what else is new? When gun-nuts can't deal with REAL incidents like the slaughter of 20 kids at Sandy Hook they start faking stuff to "prove" their main point that adding more nuts with guns will "solve" the problem. FYI - The "study" was underwritten by a national security-training firm that hopes to make big bucks by "imbedding" rent-a-cops and/or "training" teachers to become "Dirty Harrys" (or "Harriets") ... More of the same old stuff that Sticky pulls from his nether orific

"Anti Gun Congresswoman Thinks Gun Magazines Can Only Be Used Once"

HEY LOOK, EVERYBODY! We've found someone that knows just about as much, concerning guns, as does oneill amd Munster.

So "Universal Checks" WILL work???????

"The report by the Americans for Gun Safety Foundation says nearly 1.7 million firearms were reported to police as stolen from January 1993 through August 2002. The number of guns stolen per year has declined, from 221,322 reported in 1993 to 138,035 in 2001, the report says."

h ttp://usatoday30.usatoday.c om/news/nation/2002-12-17-guns-usat_x.htm

Lloyd Benson (Clinton's Secretary of Treasury 1993-94) "There are almost 150,000 guns STOLEN in this country each year. Many of those WILL END UP IN THE HANDS OF A CRIMINAL."

REALLY???????????????

Freddie, what offends me is the naive belief that passing laws prevents violence. That banning a certain type of firearm, or having every LEGAL gun transfer done with background checks insures safety.

Criminals will still ignore current and future laws. Our society and government are wasting a lot of breath discussing legislation that will not cure any problems, and likely will cause more problems. And for all the huffing and puffing of the liberals, it appears not even your own party wants to engage in the political suicide these measures will effect.

Oh, BTW, blow it out your posterior!

A murderer is a murderer! One's political affiliation has nothing to do with it. This "conversation" has become even sillier thn it was when I last logged on! @Mod - EVERYTHING offends the Stick! Or at least everything but what he hears in his own head! He just likes to whine and blame others because his trigger-happy philosophy is becoming outdated!
