The reality of the goals of the anti-gun crowd is they truly believe it's possible to have a society without gun owners. If not, you wouldn't hear them speak so fondly of countries where there is NO civilian gun ownership. They talk so lovingly of England, where even a person that owns a shotgun, has to store it at the gun club.

They compare Canada as a goal, where just in the past year a guy was jailed for firing warning shots into the ground to run off a group of vandals that were throwing burning bottles of gasoline on his home.

I was watching some of the Cable Gab Fests on Sunday morning. The pro-control people use the word assault style weapons when talking about semi and full automatic. I finally figured out that they either- one: did not know what they were talking about or- two: they were purposely misleading. We need to start to use words that more aptly describe the weapons. I think we make everyone use the words automatic or semi-automatic and make sure they know the difference. Assault “style” weapons, as far as I can tell, come in both flavors. You want to band fully automatic, I guess I could get on board with that since I think fully auto is restricted to special permits already. But banning semi-automatic could very well morph itself into banning the sale of hand guns since a six shooter is a semi-automatic weapon. I've got an idea, why don't we deal with what the ACTUAL problem is, unmedicated nutcases allowed to roam free is society.Court transcripts show the university was told better than a month before the Colorado shooter killed that he was a danger. The question of whether one can defend their life with a .410 shotgun, or an AR is a moot point. The fact remains that we still have a 2nd amendment in spite of the efforts of the anti-gun crowd.
