The Sequester is nothing more than small decrease in the rate of increase in federal spending OVER 10 YEARS. President Obama should be the one to choose where the $85 billion in cuts should come from THIS YEAR since THE SEQUESTER was HIS IDEA TO BEGIN WIT

The President needs to lead on this issue he created instead of campaigning against it.

Warren, Dem, has claimed Cherokee and Delaware Indian heritage, but the only proof so far seems to be stories she says she heard from family members as a child. Cherokee groups have demanded documentation of the candidate’s Native American ancestry, but she hasn’t delivered.

I'd like to know what the plans are for those that are getting entitlements when the economy collapses because there aren't enough working taxpayers to support the system????

that they are getting?…It is working like an insurance policy. Ordinary folks pay for homeowners insurance. Ordinary folks pay for car insurance. And these big financial institutions are getting cheaper borrowing to the tune of $83 billion in a single year simply because people believe that the government would step in and bail them out. And I’m just saying, if they are getting it, why shouldn’t they pay for it?

BERNANKE: I think we should get rid of it

During a Senate Banking committee hearing today, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) grilled Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke on whether Wall Street banks should have to pay back taxpayers for the implicit funding advantage those banks receive by virtue of being viewed as “too big to fail”. According to a Bloomberg News study, big banks are essentially subsidized by about $83 billion per year because investors anticipate that those banks will be saved by the government if they get in trouble.

“These big financial institutions are getting cheaper borrowing to the tune of $83 billion in a single year simply because people believe the government would step up and bail them out. If they are getting it, why shouldn’t they pay for it?” asked Warren:

... WARREN: So I understand that we’re all trying to get to the end of “too big to fail”. But my question, Mr. Chairman, is until we do, should those biggest financial institutions be repaying the American taxpayer that $83 billion subsidy th

To put this into perspective, these cuts are $85 billion. Apple is sitting on $137 billion cash. $85 Billion is chump change. If agencies in the US Gov’t cannot find a way to cut 1.5% out of their budgets, the Gov’t is even more messed up than first thought. The media is focused on the number 85 Billion. It is not that big of s deal. The problem is every agency is going to protect their goodies and make the citizens suffer by cutting personnel. It shows you what disdain the gov’t has for their citizens

If the President has any guts he would demand that the cuts come from something besides laying off folks. There is fat in every departments budget, repeat every single one.

If you set your thermostat to 74, turning it down to about 73 is 1.5%. Are you really going to notice?

Munster says: If your going to cut , cut straight across the board ! Senators , house members , generals etc , etc !- we could do without those folks longer than air traffic controllers, Airport security, meat inspectors etc. Mismanagement starts at the very top.

Every major industry has learned to do with less over the last 4 years and they have magically become more profitable. Gov’t agencies have just gotten used to more and more.

oneill: everything I have seen or read in regards to sequester has to do with laying off people. That would mean, in the private sector, that the entity in question is running at top efficiency and the only way to cut costs in a downtime is to reduce spending. In the private sector scenario, the entity’s highest cost which are personnel so layoffs happen. There is not one Gov’t agency that can be accused of running at 100% lean and mean efficiency. There has to be, repeat one hundred times, there has to be many areas within each agency to reduce costs before going to layoffs of personnel. Problem is that no one has been called on the carpet to make efficiencies happen. When someone gets used to only more money coming in every year, a lazy management style kicks in. The Sequester is a reduction in increases, not reductions in current dollars. Layoffs are the manager’s easy way out. Gov’t has no mangers, just appointees. Every major industry has learned to do with less over the last

No govt. subsidies for Nascar, let Rupert pay for it.

No qualified divedend rates, if a local masonry contractor pays a non effective tax rate of 35%, so should those that receive the "qualified" dividends, remember it has took many things to create 17 trillion in debt, not just poor and elderly programs.

Ok it is the belief that the new shale oil/gas boom will create tertiary jobs, same can be said for our crumbling infrastructure, bridges are at the woest safety rating nationwide since ronnie was costarring as leader of the free world. Now that being said what oversight is there for money going to Afghanistan for their rebuilding of infrastructure, there are numerous reports of govt. funds coming in and leaving with Afghani officials the same day, never to be seen again. Stiffy if you lost money in the market, look up Blankfein,Gov. Kashcow, and HSBC,Chase, Duetche Bank, the federal reserve, and Phil Gramm(lets combine banking and investing, like was done in the 1920`s, What could go wrong?) to file your complaint. Once again one hack of a lot of millionaires are created by the militarial industry, if you are a convicted felon, you should not be able to do this.

Department of Defense. We are no longer supporting a war in Iraq, you know, that UNFUNDED war that Libs like to toss out. We have a scaled back war in Afghanistan. Well, fella’s use some of that “PEACE DIVIDEND” that Obama is so proud of. "I'll use the money we're no longer spending on war to pay down our debt and put more people back to work — rebuilding roads and bridges, schools and runways. After two wars that have cost us thousands of lives and over a trillion dollars, it's time to do some nation-building right here at home."

In the private sector, when something happens that has the potential to affect the delivery of goods and services to the company’s customer, everything is done to minimize the effect on the customer. But Gov’t is not a managed private entity. It is a bunch of little independent departments that are run like individual fiefdoms. So when the FAA has to cut 1.5% out of a $73,000,000,000 budget Ray Lahood decides that it is the air traffic controllers and security screeners at airports that are the first to go in order to maximize the pain felt by taxpayers/customers. Basically, this is a way of getting retribution on the Taxpayer for daring to cut the rate of increase by so little. Inflicting the most pain to the customer with the least pain to the FAA.
