The networks are playing the press conference where BO was asked about chemical weapons and he said that would be a RED LINE. Bascially he stuck the foot of the USA in his mouth on that one.
*not in place of first know in previous post.
yahoo headline i woke up to: Obama: 'I didn't set a red line' on Syria. The "not me" commander-in-chief strikes again. he must have realized that two of his useful stooges were busy, namely hillary and susan, so he decided this one was gonna be all his! wait, i did neglect to mention ol' stiffy....no not that one, i am talking about the purple-hearted, shot in the arse, married my fortune john kerry. i did know know if anyone noticed his mama-warbucks sitting stage-left behind him doing her best "dog-in-the-window" bobbleheading in agreement with him as if she could lend any credibility to the manure he was spreading. simply incredible. after benghazi, only the delusional or insane would believe this group of hacks.
That is good information. Given all that, it would seem that Syria would have its hands full at this time fighting rebels. Would they have the time and expertise to make Sarin and then decide to use it on their own people? I am thinking maybe they got the stuff from Iran, China or the Russians.
There is a pretty large list of people who don't like us and don't agree with the president’s declaration that “something has to be done”.
Helping Syria would be a way to give the bird to Obama.
What a mess the president has got us committed to.
I hope we don't go ahead with this just so the president can "save face".
Also, the shelf life of sarin gas seems to be quite short. So for those that think the sarin gas used by Syria today is the same that suppose to have came from Iraq a decade ago, might want to rethink it a bit.
Sarin gas has been around for over 70 years. Unlike what conspiracy nutjobs like Hannity may think, Syria could have developed sarin gas on it's own.
It's even been shown that Syria obtained chemicals from Britain that could be used to make sarin gas.
So, Where did Syria get the Sarin Gas?
They never had the capablity to make it.
Did they get it from Saddam?
Only if it's prophecy that has been going on for over a century because this area has been at war or the unoccassional uneasy peace all that time.
It is a mess. Is this prophesy being fulfilled?
There is an old saying, “an enemy of an enemy is a friend”. This puts Israel in the crosshairs of other nations in the Middle East who hate the USA but cannot get to us. I fear that when (not if) we go after Syria, Syria, with the help of Iran may go after Israel. And then you have the Russians hanging out there rattling swords also. What a mess.
But we have deployed Patriot missiles, in country and at Turkey's request, to protect their airspace .
I need to retract the statement about Turkey giving us authorization to use their airspace.
Turkey is giving us use of their airspace. The targets have been painted...... Principles can have expenses.
Jordan is helping with refugees but they have little to offer in the way of a strong military. If one looks at their history for the past 60 years, you would see that they tend to follow the leads of the other nations around them
Israel...do we really have to say why Israel cannot take direct action on this? If Israel did more than just protect their borders or take care of the occasional terrorist group, this could become a regional mess real quick.
I have no problem personally with the US, France and a few others securing the borders and maybe taking out some military locations that have chemical weapons. Just as long as we do not put soldiers on the ground.
While I agree that the surrounding nations of Syria should step up a bit, there are some harsh realities you are not considering.
Lebanon has nothing really to work with. For years Syria was screwing with them and their inner workings.
Turkey is part of the EU now and will NOT go against their overall wishes on this matter. Only if the Syrian Kurds began to strengthen and incite the Turkish Kurds to rebel would Turkey do anything.
Iraq has nothing to work with either. Getting involved in a Syrian war could decimate their fragile union. The Kurds would support their fellow Kurdish rebels. The Iraqi Sunni (a minority) would put itself in harm's way if they would support the majority Sunni population of Syria.
In a Facebook post titled “Let Allah Sort It Out,” former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin condemned President Obama’s decision to get further involved with the ongoing civil war in Syria.
“So we’re bombing Syria because Syria is bombing Syria? And I’m the idiot?” Mrs. Palin asked on Friday.
Great cartoon on the Times editorial page showing BO painting himself into a corner with his "line".
Sorry Beright. I was referring to BO as "he."
BO is the Pres, not John Kerry.
LTS. I thought you were joking but sadly, when I read the news I found out you were right. Turning over to congress is a win/win for him cause he can blame it all on them - as usual. Best thing they could do is turn it back over to him and Kerry. He ran on the platform of ending Iraq and Afghanistan and found out that was easier said than done. So it will be interesting to see how it plays out. I still say let the UN handle it.
