Remember: The very industry we are concerned about here, projects their own ability to produce an excess (9%) over demand in the next decade.
Very dramatic. Fortunately, there is no factual basis supporting such dire predictions.
More and more power-hungry appliances and electronics (big-screen TVs) roll out of the stores everyday.
Imagine the delight that those consumers will have for Obama when his anti-carbon, minimalist, green-powered electrical grid can't carry the load on Tuesday, then on Friday, then on Sunday.
Of course Obama won't be in office to be blamed anymore than he will be when his monolithic healthcare system collapses.
That built-in time buffer, from creation to delayed collapse, works out well with systems used by people who want to destroy the status quo.
We should have a large sign erected in front of the WH expressing; "DANGER! Modern day Caligula at work within".
The demand for power hasn't diminished. However, the rate of it's increase has slowed in recent years. It's doubtful we will ever see a decrease in the overall demand.
Yeah Where did all this demand dissappear to???
Despite regional concern about loss of coal production and power house demolition, the electrical generation industry's supply/demand projection for the next decade predicts an approximate nine percent overcapacity nationwide.
Ayn Rand's acolytes may not be very enthusiastic about a more timely projection than she made back in the 1940's concerning the future of our national power grid, but I'll accept the current industry projections over an ancient pulp-fiction novelist's notions... How about you?
I heard a politician make an interesting observation recently. He said (about America) "If you live in a river valley or more than a hundred miles from the shoreline, your opinion doesn't really count". We are about to see that theory applied.
Let Mr. Obama proceed with his anti-carbon campaign and see what YOUR electric rates become. Unless you stake more credibility upon the belief that it won't take thirty years to make "green technologies" financially and technologically viable in this country, be prepared to accept roving brownouts as the norm here, while the east coast metropolises are given Most Favored status with the manner electrical transmission is divided up.
Mr. Rab, check out the CEO of Dominion's response to the potus's speech today, might be suprised to hear what he said, in my grandfather's day there must have been a war on grindstones quarried from Washington county, but he survived, and adapted to the times, so will we......
Remember when one of the 'promised benefits' of the implementation of NAFTA (January 1, 1994) would be a huge decline in alien criminals slipping across our border?
How'd that work out for us?
BO Legacy: In regards to Edward Snowden, today, Hong Kong, China and Russia just flipped Obama the bird.
I thought the NSA program was a terrific idea when I first heard about it and still do. Protecting America is what it is all about. A few years ago when a certain candidate was campaigning against data mining by the NSA, there was paranoia against this NSA program and it’s “wiretapping’. Now that that candidate is now president, and the program has expanded, we now need to have a discussion about the program. And now that same president wants The kid that who exposed the NSA treated as a traitor. He did nothing more than expose an open secret. What hypocrisy.
Was Obama wearing a wire during the G8?
Go ahead and dispute: You have people running agencies that willingly, repeat willingly, followed Obama’s instructions to make the sequester as damaging and inconvenient to the Citizens of the USA as possible. You have a president whose only economic plan is to raise taxes and prop of Gov’t unions. He has presented no other plans. Unemployment is still out of sight and corporations are hoarding money because they are scared to death as to what else is up Obama’s sleeve. He is unpredictable and clueless. You consider that a legacy?

A legacy that includes a lot of acronyms is not a good thing: IRS, NSA, FBI, CIA, MSNBC and BBB.
Obama flat out LIED about the affects of the Sequester. Even Ed Schultz can’t defend that one.
The Sequester is nothing more than small decrease in the rate of increase in federal spending OVER 10 YEARS. Obama is unable to MANAGE Gov't agencies. His legacy will be instead of ordering agencies to find ways of saving money, he ordered them to find the areas which would cause the most harm or inconvenience to the Citizens of the USA and implement them. He can’t blame bush for that low life move. That was his all alone. Then we find out that the agencies had the extra money all they had to do was move it. The IRS wasted $50Million. Legacy? LOL
• Well Congrats! BO now agrees with Dick Cheney unlike 2006. Now we’re getting somewhere.
