And I could listen to any instrument. Some songs I listen to the bass line and some the drums etc. Especially Rush. You can listen to one song 3 times and pick out an instrument and get a different feel of that song. Same with AC/DC. Their drum lines are so pure. Not much in crash symbols or hi hat.
Abby. I fully agree with you about Vai.. A little weird at first with Zappa but awesome sounding. Have you listened to any of the G3 series with Satriani, Eric Johnson, Malmsteen, Petrucci ?? I have 3 dvd of this. Awesome. And I saw Vai live when he was with David Lee Roth after the split up. I am not much of a Santana fan after he ran his louie about immigration at the opening of one of the ball games.
Don't eat the yellow snow.
OWO...Santana pretty much sealed his sound when he found Paul Reed Smith guitars.
if you fellas haven't heard of him yet...check out Tommy Immanuel on youtube. extremely talented and fun to watch.
While speed is a talent of sorts , great guitar players dont rely on finger tapping or other such things
Absolem many mistake speed for talent, just aint so
Yeah I muddle through like you . But the good news is now you can get on youtube and there are instrctional videos for just about any song you'd desire to learn . Oh and I'll add a couple more to the list of greats . Dan Fogelberg wasnt only a great lyricist but could flat out play, and of course Carlos Santana .
good morning OWO...i agree. real talent to me is exhibited by the command of the ability to play whatever one seems to desire at will. i doubt i will ever attain the fluidity that professional grade players have, i tend to play well enough to be able to please myself...my standards ain't that high. :-)
Abby , players like eddie Van Halen amaze me , he seems to play without concious thought .
Don't let them church folk listen to much Zappa, his lyrics can be a little inappropriate at times
Shop...as much of a "getar" freak as i am, i am amazed by quality pianists and violinists. they can produce some of the most stunning and beautiful music i have ever heard. you know in discussions with "church folk" and music, it is explained that music is simply vibrations that either produce a please or unpleasurable sound. without words, it is up to the sound to create the lyrics you "hear".
Zappa was a genius but like most was not mainstream nor fully understood
Glad you care Absolem ;)
fellas...i was never into Zappa. my only realization of him was that Steve Vai "appenticed" with him. Vai is no slouch. through interviews withVai, it was revealed what a musical genius Frank Zappa was.
Its quite good musically perhaps Absolem has heard it. He is a musician as well
And still no one really cares at all !
Its called Joes Garage acts 1 2 and 3
And still no one cares at all !
