NasCarNut - When you post "In the 1950s and ’60s, Afghanistan was a somewhat secular country...", here's my suggestion about how you can currently use that to your benefit. Take that point, find someone to give you $1.99, and you can buy yourself a cup of coffee.

At this point in our history, your point is no more effective than all of 'slinkys' commentary about "Bush did this" and "Bush did that".

WE ARE WHERE WE ARE !

We are staring down the bore, literally on occasion, of a terrorist movement that has been 16 centuries in the making. They don't care if you love them, hate them or feel tolerant of them. They would cut your head off because they believe it appeases their god and no boring, pointless litany from you of what a FORMER American politician ever did is going to make one iota of difference to them.

My advice is to get that through your head while you still have one.

Dear slinky - Not only can your boy totally mess up American foreign policy, it seems his landmark piece of legislation (which was supposed to be under the purview of another Federal government branch anyway) is headed into the dumpster. ALL forms of media are currently reporting that ObamaCare costs are SOARING, with several healthcare mega-providers ready to throw off it's burdens. Have you ever had anyone tell you, "WE TOLD YOU SO"?

Now, I'll let you get back to your vocation of blaming everything on Bush and telling us how we are racists.

Of course, the reason so many targets remain for the French (and Russians) to bomb in the ISIS capital of Raqqa is that Obama’s not bombing much. American sorties are at a fraction of the level of the 2003 or 1991 Iraq wars, the 2001 Afghan campaign or even President Bill Clinton’s Serbia intervention. And tight US “rules of engagement” leave up to 75 percent of American planes returning to base without dropping a single bomb. Earnest is plainly desperate to answer the tidal wave of opinion unfavorably comparing Obama with French President François Hollande, such as Andrea Peyser’s column in Monday’s Post, “Hollande is making a weasel of O.” But spin can’t make the facts go away. And Earnest’s embarrassing comments don’t hold a candle to John Kerry’s disgraceful ones. On Tuesday, the secretary of state suggested Charlie Hebdo had it coming.

border officials arrest illegal aliens who are attempting to leave the country and formally deport them. While it seems counterintuitive, there are some good reasons for these practices. The U.S. wants to keep track of people who have been in the country illegally. If an illegal alien is deported, they are barred from obtaining legal entry into the U.S. for ten years. If they are caught in the country after having been deported, they can face criminal charges rather than just another deportation. However, this policy has its origins in an Obama administration law that is designed to allow border agents to catch gun runners and those carrying cash to Mexican drug cartels. Furthermore, U.S. Customs and Border Protection argues, even if they are not working for drug cartels, these illegal aliens have broken U.S. law and they are not just going to allow that to happen.

Moderation...your concern and well wishes help to fortify my soul and is much appreciated. It is easy sometimes to forget that on the other side of the debate is a real person and as such the shared humanity must not be underscored. Thank you again...my long time pixelated friend.

We created Islamic extremism: Those blaming Islam for ISIS would have supported Osama bin Laden in the ’80's

Jingoists conveniently forget the West's Cold War strategy was to arm the Islamic extremists that became al-Qaida

In the 1950s and ’60s, Afghanistan was a somewhat secular country in which women were granted relatively equal rights. What turned Afghanistan into the hotbed for extremism it is today? Decades of Western meddling.

In light of the attack on Paris, and how Obozo should be reacting to it, the following video from 2 years ago is 'delicious'. That, considering the FACT that we may need Guantanamo more than ever in the future.

"Rachel Maddow - Congress too frightened to allow Obama to close Guantanamo"

BTW, OHwiseone - Obama has seven years under his belt as both our military's commander and our director of foreign policy. Although I know international relations are always fluid, he surely has a well-laid and concise plan for dealing with the eventualities of ISIS. WHAT IS IT?

Kunectdots

OHwiseone - "the republican strategy for dealing with this problem" is stymied on all fronts by the present Caligula-in-Chief.

"One thing that might have helped would be if we hadnt gone there to begin with !"

Ahhh, when Bush handed the reigns to Obozo on Iraq, we were DEFEATING the forces of Saddam Hussein. When Obozo toppled Kaddafi in Libya, He sowed the seeds for the "Arab Spring" that spread from Libya through Syria and into Iraq. When Hussein ran Iraq, there was no such entity as "al-Qaeda in Iraq". That movement developed and transitioned under Obozo. They were a fertile seedbed for the cultivation of ISIS, out of Syria, and are now considered Islamic State of IRAQ and the Levant (ISIL), or Islamic State in IRAQ and Syria (ISIS).

Now, I understand that former officers and scientists that were under control of Saddam Hussein are working on chemical weapons development for use by ISIS.
