Members of Congress should not undermine the U.S. government

United States Congressmen should not threaten the existence of the United States government simply because those Congressmen do not like a program. It is the height of fiscal irresponsibility for a Congress to threaten to not pay debts that it has incurred because it does not like a program that it has created. Voters should pay closer attention to the behavior of their elected officials and ask themselves whether those officials really represent them, of if those officials are instead paid-for hires of immoral billionaires who spend their time shoving cocaine up their nostrils.

Who banks a $174,000 annual salary and works less than a third of the year?

Members of the House of Representatives, apparently.

The 2014 calendar for the House was released Thursday by House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.), and shows members will only work only 113 days. That's down from 2013, when House lawmakers were scheduled to meet for 126 days. Only 107 days were scheduled in 2012......huff post

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said, “One of my favorite old Kentucky sayings is there's no education in the second kick of a mule". I say he played his cards like a master, as did boehner.

It is funny that Head Start was mentioned. Head Start is a failed Gov't program that has turned out to be nothing more than gov't run day care. This is exactly the type of program that needs to be cut. And no one went hungry since every program that was needed to be funded was funded. Onielll needs to stop listening to Ed Schultz. BTW: is Warren still claiming to be an Indian or did she drop that claim once she got what she needed out of it?

Oneill, you started a forum topic 120 days ago - Reading the entire Constitution out loud isn't a bad idea, but - judging from the recorded comments of several of the new "Tea Party" House members - dissecting that document is actually the perogative of SCOTUS and the Federal court system ... The "Commerce Clause", in essence, says in plain English more or less that "Congress shall regulate foreign and interstate commerce ... and commerce with the various Indian tribes" ... All I see on the horizon is an endless quibbling about what provisions such as this clause (or the First Amentment prohibition of "an establishment of religion") that will effectively shut the entire government down (like they did in 1995) ... Or, despite their professed love for the "constitutional Rule of Law", is the prospect of "ultimate anarchy" the real goal of the "Tea Party" Congress? ...

One bad decision can be proof of many more to come.

When Congress passed legislation Wednesday night to end the government shutdown, it paved the way for the return of the National Zoo's popular webcam, which shows the Washington D.C. pandas 24 hours a day.

I wonder if it took a long time to "turn it back on"? I also wonder how long it took to "turn it off".

Mount Rushmore is open again but I am not sure how Mount Rushmore was closed to begin with. I supposed it had to do with all those private conversations the head of the Park Service had with the White House to determine which closings would cause the most harm to the Citizens of the US. This is a good lesson on how a corrupt leader can use the power of the Gov’t to do his own bidding.

If the point of the post was about women in congress and not their lifestyle, their lifestyle would not have brought out the responses it did, if anything, we may need more female representation, as more and more are now primary earners in the household....

That was not my point by a main stream media point. What was interesting about the gay and bi sexual comment was that the main stream media site that I got the information from felt it necessary to include that information in their story. I would think that the story would be about them being women in congress and not about their sexual orientation. I thought that sexual orientation thing and it being important was a thing of the past.

good morning scrappile, in the case of the presidency, the constitution is quite limited in scope. it does not require sanity, moral fitness, nor non-criminal background. we can all argue about the merits of fitness of office, but the constitution as written by the framers accepted seemed to assume certain norms by which to judge the eligibility to hold office. many people throw the bigot word around like so many other derogatory labels. I find it odd that liberal minded folks that have fought so hard to remove labels turn around and gleefully and maliciously assign their accepted derogatory terms for those that think differently than themselves. it is rather perplexing. many times prejudice and preference get interchanged incorrectly. i married a caucasian women, but i find women of other races equally attractive. does my choice indicate preference or prejudice? you may ask yourself about your choices as well since others may look upon you and inquire the same.

Holy Smokes. I went to bed and when I woke up we had a CR passed and the Gov’t re-opened. And we still 17 trillion in debt, the Obamacare site is imploding, the Senate still have not passed a budget, unemployment is still running rampant, we still got people getting killed in Afghanistan, gitmo is still open, the 47% had no idea what was going on and……and……and……...this morningg MSNBC was picking “winners” and “losers” in the Debt Limit crisis debate.

Did someone win something last night?

Is it a coincidence that the gridlock in Washington has certainly gotten worse since the percentage of woman in congress has steadily increased including newly elected and first ever openly gay Senator, Tammy Baldwinm of Wisconsin and the newly elected first ever openly bi-sexual member to the House of Representatives, Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona, both Democrats? Just askin.
