When should a person be punished for stating an opinion?

As many people might know, 'Duck Dynasty' star Phil Robertson gave an interview to GQ Magazine and gave his colorful opinion on different social topics. The response from various groups made A&E pull him from the show. So the discussion is, if someone is asked for their opinion and gives it willingly, should they be punished afterward?

grandmother regarding his birthplace and the vehement attacks from the democrats and liberals actually seemed to fan the flames of conspiracy more than they would care to admit. would you not want the President to be lawfully able to hold office???? well i would too. his birth certificate is sketchy to say the least according to several document forensic experts. but we all know how that goes....i will say that i am with you 100% in regards to the steam-rolling. his governance by decree and whim without the requiste checks and balances should be troubling to everyone. but when you are winning, the culmative effect may not be seen until it is too late.

asknot...ok now that you have said how the right has politcized the immigration issue...please address with equal vigor how the left has made political pawns out of millions of illegal inhabitants for their own benefit. the requirement of voter identification is much less innoculous as is being proposed for gun control which is a constitutional right unlike the vote. if one voter does so illegally then one nut with a gun should not matter. percentage-wise it is comparable and insignificant. CNN, MSNBC, and most democrat/liberal publications stated the tea-party-race comparison. however the movement and members were much more diverse than the liberal media cared to admit. they gained immense pleasure in demeaning those within the tea-party especially the mis-guided folks of color. btw...i stay pretty dark almost year-round...although i am a little on the light-side at the moment. regarding Obama past....the stalling and delay of his birth certificate, the admission of his maternal gran

preferred race to his advantage in the elction(s). would using it to your advantage not equal the oppostitions use to impede? hate to tell asknot...but there was a plenty of black folk that had gotten tired of being governed by ol' whitey and obama fit the bill....what was the democrats said about obama...yes thats right he's an articulate black...no thats classy. the beginnings of the sentiment of the so-called tea-party began with the destruction of america with nafta and governemnt intrusion. i tend to believe that it would have occurred without respect to whom was president. but then again my conjecture of truth may be as accurate as our claim of truth regarding blanket racism.

asknot...good evening. do you honestly think that the illegal immigration stance was solely due to an anti-hispanic sentiment or was the racial aspect just an unfortunate truth? the tightening of voting laws to enhance the integrity of our elections should be supported. i do not in any way think that targeting of any race was intentional by design. the targeting by the democrats decided which racial class of citizen was either too stupid, unmotivated or would allow their vote to be commandeered under the guise of being the victim. the history of any candidate for office should be questioned and scrutinized no matter the race. even though it was well-documented where and under what circumstance mccain(still don't care for him politically) was born, the liberal left still decided to try and make hay with it...just to divert attention from the current presidents past...which was vaugue and protected. one can't deny the fact that the president utilized the predominant features of his pref

Our fiercest critics can sometimes be our best teachers. Melissa Harris-Perry. In apology to Romney family about making fun of mixed race families on her show.

It doesn't seem to matter if states recognize gay marriage, federal court judges keep finding states established laws unconstitutional.

Leggero was discussing a controversial SpaghettiOs ad showing the mascot holding an American flag with fellow hosts, Anthony Anderson, Jane Lynch and Carson Daly.

The ad was part of a Campbell’s campaign to honor Pearl Harbor Day and was accused of mocking the 1941 military strike.

She said “I mean, it ***** that the only survivors of Pearl Harbor are being mocked by the only food they can still chew. It’s just sad,”

Just curious, was she mocking them for being survivors or for being old?

I doubt most serious proponents are that bent out of shape over Phil.

Considering that 19 states recognize same-s e x marriage and I would guess that by decades end, nearly all states will recognize it...GLAAD will win the war while Phil's supporters merely won a minor battle.

NOT everything is about money to them if you haven't realized that by now. They are a family of Christians that want to spread the word of Christ. GLAAD just ran up against them and they are way bigger and popular than GLAAD so they had their butts kicked by Phil and all of the people that signed the petitions. You 3 percenters aren't gonna change that.

They're not starting their own line of guns, Mossberg is introducing a Duck Commander line of guns. Sure, they're likely getting royalties for the use of their brand. But, this deal was said and done months ago, likely longer than that.

You are darn right they should be punished. Punished by publically calling then racist homophobe idiots until they lose everything they have ever worked for. They dont deserve any of it because they dont agree with the liberals. (sarcasm highly intended).

somebody mentioned Phil stating that they will pluck your ducks or something to that effect. well i got to thinking...well i did pluck a young lady from your area as mine. remember the duck does not pluck itself. we like to pluck every chance we get. we are selfish and don't share a pluck or give a pluck. maybe Phil should tell everyone to just pluck-off. hope i did not just pluck myself. enjoy your day....be charitable...stop someone and give a pluck!

atlas2025....interesting information. do you recall if your father had to get her parents permission for the marriage? also, in researching laws regarding age and consent, i found listed that a 13 year-old can have consential sex as long as her partner is below the age of 18. otherwise the age of consent is 16 years-old as it is in most states. in the 1880's in delaware a 7 year old was able to give consent. now that would blow a skirt up in this day and time! pun intended.

BeRight, with the recent installation of anchor ejection seats at MSNBC, i was surprised it took her that long to issue an apology...but with a PHD on her wall, you wuld think she would have killed the segment before it made it on air. never let a young child get in the way of a political jab! anyway she corrected herself to quiet the sh! t strom that was brewing before she lost her position as a liberal mouthpiece. people will do (almost) anything for money.
