When did "transference" and "projection" become standard weapons in this nation's political discourse? Are they not just convenient devices employed by those who cannot present real facts to back up their opinions?
From the 1980s onward, RNC strategists like Richard Vigurie, Newt Gingrich, Karl Rove, and Jonah Goldberg have advised supporters of Republican "ideas" to employ devices such as "transference" and "projection" in debate situations. "Transference" is the shifting of responsibility for one's actions off onto opponents - i.e. saying that President Obama is "lying" to hide the fact that his right-wing opponents put out daily (and often disclaimed) distortions of everything from the Affordable Care Act to Benghazi to Climate-Change ... "Projection" is more personal - it is a psychological term for attributing one's own faults to others ... BOTH of these devices have been overused and abused since January, 2009 ... Isn't it time they were put back in the box with all the other broken toys?
