Is the GOP "out of touch" with women?

A recent CNN poll has 55% of Americans saying that the GOP doesn't understand women. Is it true that the GOP, and by extension Right-leaning Conservatives, really out of touch or is it just a perceived truth without merit? Is the GOP allowing the Liberals/Dems/Left to define to the public what they stand for?

its a MANS business when the law will force him to pay for 18 years if it lives but says he has no say in it.

The man had his say when he slept with the woman Without protection...why is it just the womans responsibility for birth control??... protection...

@Ask- what do you think if Congress was 70% women and was voting on a vasectomy bill, how would the average male citizen react? Would they be screaming it's none of Congress's business? I think so.

A little clarification on my part, I do not consider all Republicans as GOP. When I say GOP, I am referring to the active politicans of the party and not the everyday voter. I think most run of a mill Republican tend to be more liberal on women issues than the politicians that get voted into office.

If the GOP would grab ahold of those talking points and never mention abortion again for a decade it would serve them a whole lot better.

Even when the GOP is making good points on the abortions topic, it will just come out wrong in the media. The fact that they cannot see this is one of the signs that they just don't get it.

The vast majority of the conversation is about their reproductive rights and nothing else.

Well what do you expect, a group of men thinking with the wrong head again...it's true, boys never grow up!!...Yes the GOP is out of touch on just about everything and not only with women...

"this could delve into equal pay, glass ceilings, and military sexual abuse and women's limitations in combat."

This I agree with but if you would go through the many pages on this topic, those points you bring up are seldom talked about.

I'll admit the 30/70 was a bit on the fly but I figure that the female/male ratio in Congress is somewhere around that.

And you are correct that a vasectomy and an abortion are nto quite the same. A vasectomy can be reversed in many cases where dead is just dead.

Wow asknot. So you are saying that everything that could be invented, has been invented. I know about those you ridiculously pointed out.. You should really tell someone that they don't need to try and invent anything else because YOU have DECLARED it already exists. You are really an Einstein. What knowing all there is to know about Gay rights and minorities like you do. Good grief you are a doosie of a know it all.!!

Doing a quick skim of all the responses, I would have to say that yes...the GOP is out of touch. The reason? The vast majority of the conversation is about their reproductive rights and nothing else.

Are the concerns of the women's voters nothing more than that to the GOP?

And a theoretical question on the topic of reproductive rights, if a bill was introduced to have all men get a vasectomy when they reach 18....but only 30% of men were allowed to vote compared to 70% of women...would that be fair? Should a woman even have the right to make that kind of choice?

asknot: I don't know what you'r problem with me is, perhaps I have offended you in the past, and if so, I'm sorry.

I urge you to relent on the hostility. If not, so be it... I can deal with you like any other cracker here.

I simply asked: This being a woman's issue, perhaps a woman's perspective may be a pertinent viewpoint. No?

I still wonder: how do the women feel about this "conversation"?

Obviously, you must be absolutely right.

Shame on me for questioning you.

I bow to your obvious superiority.

Have a good day.
