Forgetting history, a sin of the Republic

I was reading about the difficulty of Pres. Obama's pick getting the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division top position. His name is Debo Adegbile and the main criticism is that as a lawyer he defended a cop killer. Did Congress forget that everyone is entitled to a defense?

asknot...absolutely not. who is lambasted for their stance against gays and gay marriage...is it the muslims, which to my knowledge do not condone either. is Louis Farrakan allowed to preach his racial hate from the pulpit to be broadcast on the radio and television against jews and whites but not be condemned on national news the way opponents of the president are? foxnews, while having a large number of viewers is dwarfed by the more liberal print media and broadcast networks by shear numbers. can a black politican accuse a white politician of an infraction without being called racist? the answer is yes, if you disagree please provide an instance...then why can't the opposite occur? face it asknot...it happens more than you think. it is like walking along a street and seeing a coin on the sidewalk. how many coins have you walked past in your life simply becuase you weren't looking?

condemnation. are they given a pass????? o.k. now on to African-Americans. is it not true that any derogatory comment regarding anything negative no matter how true is deemed to be racist? you are as a witness to the many examples that appear here. i need to go no further for any other examples. if you are going to base the accuracy of my comment on whether it occurs in every instance then i am wrong but if it occurs at all then i am correct. your choice to see it or ignore it is totally up to you. i don't view people on a sliding scale as others do. they are equal. equally nice or equally bad. doesn't matter to me.

asknot, good evening...it is lovely isn't it? i hope your day went extremely well. it is such a warm and starry night. i could just lay back and gaze at the twinkling in sky were it not for the little mosquito that buzzes in my ear to remind me of fred. to answer your question..i must ask you a question or two. is it not true that christians, which are portrayed as mostly white, are villified as having a war on basically everyone???? ok, lets say it's true for arguments sake. does the muslim faith not have basically the same attitudes and teachings toward many of the thorns in societies side? there are approx. 7,000,000 muslims in america. i have yet to see a single newspaper, reporter, or news anchor criticize the muslim faith for the same atrocities committed by those darn christians. why is that? are they not worth interviewing about their beliefs...are they not worthy to be queried about their koran and its teachings. should they not be deemed intolerant?? where is the fairness in

fred...dinner was splendid. the mockery of pleasantries was splendid. i certainly hope you threw in a few drawls to make it believeable. no crow on the menu tonight...possibly yardbird. the ideology behind the crime was supporting the ideology of the accused and convicted cop-killer. i explained the intent of the statement. i did not refer to the nominees race, religion or whether he passed the tater's with his left hand or right hand but his ideology along with his strong racially-centric workplace. you did happen to catch that didn't you???

fred... disparage:To speak of in a slighting or disrespectful way; belittle. i think there has been quite a bit of disparaging going on all over these topics. anyway, it is about time for dinner and the mrs. is giving the the stink eye. as they say in the strip club...TaTa's for now!

fred...thank you foremost for the compliment. the holder mention was purely for your benefit. i disparage and compaliment people not because of color but for character and poor manners. do you not feel it within your scope to disparage an African-American should you disagree with them politically? i never siad i did so because of race. shall we all overlook the distastefulness of a person simply because of skin pigmentation? btw...i am not white. i just held a piece of bright white copy paper next to my skin and *gasp* i am almost light chocolate. be still my mint julep and get me some fresh DNA.

fred, reading your criticisms are as sublime as eating a wonderful cheesecake. it is indeed a pleasure. let me clarify for you in case you utilized speed-reading for my posts. i never said the President gave anyone a pass. it is also hard to behind-the-back someone when it is printed for all to see. speaking of cracking a whip, your sqawking of everyone that says anything disparaging about an African-American is blatently racist. bias is not necessarily racist. the nominee that was discussed had a sverely potential bias that i found unappealing for the position. that is hardly racist. now i did describe the NAACP as being race focused and limited in true inclusiveness. bias and preference like beauty is in the eye of the beHOLDER. (had to use holder in this comment somehow) i have nothing to prove and we all have faults and/or sins if you are so inclined. i know mine and have come to terms with them. sorry for my irkiness but i got's to be me. you are correct in that there are not ma

I certainly consider him a racist, when he subscribes to the theory of racial bias as some "last resort" to explain away why Abu-Jamal deserved yet another hearing, after that case has been through the court system for decades.

As for "pre-packaged" propaganda, you're as guilty of posting it here as anyone, Freddy, and get just as agitated when it's not universally accepted as "fact." If I had a vendetta against you, or anyone, I certainly wouldn't conduct it here. You're patting yourself on the back just a tad too much. Again, I say, you're a sad old man!

fred, no gated community and not in palm Springs...although i have considered Coral Gables. yes, we have excellent schools here in the South. i know the difference between race and religion. i was simply speaking of the two as a class or group of associated people that seems to get a loving pass for various reasons in many circles. that is undeniable. i do not live in such an isolated existence that i am not aware of what the reality in life happens to be. although our perceptions and experiences may differ, there is a common thread that weaves through all of us at some level. actually, i don't think i was bashing anyone. saying that some get a pass because of their race or religion is bashing????? maybe in your mind, but not in mine. it would not kill me to capitalize african-american. why should i??? i have never capitalized mexican-american, caucasian-american, asian-american or even italian-american. do you desire that african-american warrants a special capitalization effort on m

18And He said to them, "I was watching Satan fall from heaven like lightning. 19"Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you. 20"Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are recorded in heaven."

stickhauler...you give Fred waaaaaay too much power over you in this discussion. he is not the racist barometer nor the defacto judge in this arena. his opinion of you only matters if you allow it too....and you shouldn't. his infatuation over race...seemingly one...is just following a narrative and blindly ignoring any other race. the muslims as well as the african-americans are getting a pass in the proper circles of academia as well as those that consider them progressives, but are actually regressive. once they have determined that their goal has been achieved or unitl boredom sets in, the truely snobbish intellectuals will have another cause celebre soon enough.

My "history" with Earl was hardly a vendetta, it was a simple exchange of beliefs. But, as usual, you choose to characterize simple debates of issues as something entirely different from what it was. I never met the guy, I had no idea whether he was Black, White, or even Purple, and could care less. We disagreed, we stated our views via Letters to the Editor. If someone disagrees with your submissions to that part of the paper, you consider it a vendetta? Clearly, you need to learn the meaning of the word.

Offering a different view is not complaining either, it's debate, a skill you clearly refuse to engage in. Insulting people is your contribution instead.

You talk like no conservatives ever criticized Bush, which you know is a lie

And why should anyone commenting on this decision require a law degree, or a career in law enforcement? What, reading the reporting of the trial doesn't divulge the entire story? Or, just because the trial and further decisions didn't go the way you'd prefer, any commentary is invalid?

I recall you offered your opinions on the Zimmerman trial, do you possess a law degree, or have you spent your lifetime in law enforcement? Didn't think so!

"Inner-city" hardly means BLACK, visit a large city, you'll learn there are poor people of all races living there. But, you continue your game of painting anyone who disagrees with you as a racist, if that's all you've got. You're a sad old man, get some help!

You Fred, are a liar. I have never had a vendetta, or any issue for that matter, with any Black person in Washington County. I moved from Marietta in 1985, for that matter.

The ONLY possible thing you could be referring to is a situation where I fired a young man from a construction job, because he was smoking pot on a job site. It turns out his father was a member of the board of the union I belonged to, and he and his son filed discrimination charges against me. Their case was dismissed when we had a hearing, and the particulars of the case came out.

Now, if that's what you're referring to, you've used personal information gleaned from sources who shouldn't have divulged it, to attack my character. I believe that's a violation of the terms of service, as well as cowardly.
