| Latest Post: Started By: Rank: Category Are the Second Amendment "rights" of Americans really being "threatened" - or is this complaint just another gimmick to get the right-wing, reactionary base "fired up" for 2012?Well Bob, if you're not going to do it, I guess I'll have to ... Some of today's "pretend patriots" might want to look at what is happening in Egypt ... A real "revolution" isn't pretty ... Some Americans, however, are claiming that President Obama and his administration are "tyrants", and (in the words of failed Nevada Senatorial candidate Sharron Angle) "Second Amendment Solutions" might be needed ... Is she right? Or is she just "right-wing"? Inquiring minds want to know! Member CommentsstickhaulerAnd, as Lovie said, it can't be made into a full-auto firearm by individuals, those built by Federal Firearms licensee's can't be registered, because the only legally held full-auto firearms were built prior to 1986. There just aren't loads of full auto firearms out there! And I can't remember the last time one was used in a crime. Sure, there are exceptions to everything, you talked about all kinds of guns made with steel tubing. I've never seen one of the Gustav's. Posted 111 days ago. MunsterThank LTS , I try and I try but there are those who dont want to get it even when whacked in the nose with it ! Posted 111 days ago. luvthesouthpat, it appears that munster is correct about the Carl Gustav M45. i found the following on the philadelphia ordinance website. "The original gun has a sheet steel receiver formed into a round upper section for the bolt to ride in, and the same piece is formed into a flat rectangular section where the lower frame parts and mechanism are riveted into position. Our 80% receiver consists of an upper 1026 steel tube which is the correct inside diameter for the bolt and receiver extension. The rear of this tube is machined to accept the lugs of the end cap which fits right on. This receiver can be used by Class 2 or Class 3 license holders to make working guns, or buy individuals to make semi-auto, blank, or display models. This receiver as sold by us is ATF approved as a non-firearm and can be ordered direct. Please consult ATF if you have any questions on your project." i am not certain about the meaning of the 80% part in their description. Posted 111 days ago. MunsterI dont keep up with that anymore but there were several ! The ones I remember are the beretta m-12, Carl Gustav M45 there are more but I dont remember ! Most were made with an eye toward mass production and simplicity ! And yes the reciecver was a simple steel tube ! Posted 111 days ago. stickhaulerI read Shotgun News on a regular basis, the gentleman who writes a regular column on pistols is a favorite of mine. You can even see him appearing on "Gun Stories" aired on the Outdoor Channel. Firearms are like any other mechanical device, parts wear out or break. So, along with parts made for construction of firearms, additional parts are made for repair purposes. Care to cite what "machine gun" is made from steel tubing? About the only full auto firearm I can think of that the receiver resembles steel tubing would be the "Grease Gun" used by US Soldiers in WW-II. Posted 111 days ago. MunsterNo , I havent bought shotgun news for a few years and just wanted to see if they still had the dealers I remembered ! Posted 111 days ago. BeRightSo now I know who the guy is who stands in supermarkets reading, but not buying, magazines. . . . . . LOL Posted 111 days ago. MunsterGO TO KROGERS IN THE MAGAZINES ARE COPIES Of THE SHOT GUN NEWS , YOU DONT EVEN HAVE TO BUY IT , JUST LOOK IT UP BEFORE YOU COME HERE AND START WHINING ! ! Posted 111 days ago. CaspiansynnI just came from J&G Firearms web site, there is absolutely nothing there that you have discribed, I also checked out Shotgun News's web site, nothing there that you have discribed either. I wonder how them or thier lawyers would feel about your libelous statements, or how you continue to slander them even after you have been corrected on your false statments? Posted 111 days ago. MunsterRight stickinthemud , Why dont you go buy yourself an issue of shotgun news and look things up before you run your jib !Stop at JG firearms of prescot ariz !What a bunch of @#$#@ers !!! Posted 111 days ago. stickhaulerBut it's clear, logic and reason have no place in any statement free posts here! Mod, you claim there's broad based support for universal background checks? We'll see, but I doubt it's the "slam-dunk" you believe it will be. Posted 111 days ago. stickhaulerYou can buy a parts kit for most any firearm made, because they make replacement parts for them! You could conceivably buy all the parts to make a 1978 Chevy Impala too, they still make parts for them too! But, yet another idiotic claim, you really think steel tubing is made strong enough to be used for the receiver of a machine gun? God save us from the idiots in our midst, I'm amazed free is able to manipulate a computer keyboard too! I'm betting he has someone help him out! Posted 111 days ago. moderationAnd that mans' activities can not influence weather! That thinking did influence the political atmosphere. Polls do show John Q favors background checks for all gun purchases. Posted 112 days ago. MunsterCant help it if most of you righties wont accept facts ! Heck there's still some who deny they lost the election ! Posted 112 days ago. CaspiansynnYour right Munster, a little logic does go a long way . You should try it some time instead of this inaccurate and misguided BS that you so often promote. Posted 112 days ago. MunsterNow who's being naive ? Why do you suppose they sell these things as "parts kits" ??? Most 9mm sub-machine guns recievers are nothing but steel tubing !The bolt would be the thing ! And if they sell them as "parts kits" , who owns the originals that the parts fit on or in ?? Just a little logic goes a long ways !! Posted 112 days ago. BeRightAn AK-47 walks into a bar..................and decides to have a couple of rounds.............and looks over and sees another AK-47 and says “is that 30 rounds in your magazine or are you just happy to see me? Posted 112 days ago. stickhaulerPretty much anyone who believes you can just weld up a cut receiver and have a machine gun has already proven how gullible they are. Are there people who will sell parts they claim would turn a firearm into a full-auto weapon? Sure, I suppose so. The ATF reads gun publications too, every word of them. And IF they found someone actually selling parts capable of creating illegal firearms, they'd bust them in a hot minute. Posted 112 days ago. Post a Comment |
