Are the Second Amendment "rights" of Americans really being "threatened" - or is this complaint just another gimmick to get the right-wing, reactionary base "fired up" for 2012?

Pretty much anyone who believes you can just weld up a cut receiver and have a machine gun has already proven how gullible they are. Are there people who will sell parts they claim would turn a firearm into a full-auto weapon? Sure, I suppose so. The ATF reads gun publications too, every word of them. And IF they found someone actually selling parts capable of creating illegal firearms, they'd bust them in a hot minute.

Just because it's illegal to own one doesnt mean there arent those who do RE:( the bank robbers in LA) !It's like fireworks , you can buy them but it's illegal to use them !If you look there are many cut up sub machine guns advertised for parts but a little creative welding and "voila" an llegal firearm !

And owning the right trigger assembly and lower would already be illegal, you'd have to own a lower receiver capable of being a full-auto firearm. The lower is the "serial numbered" portion of such a rifle.

It would be like owning an M-2 Carbine. Owning one, even without the internal parts that actually make the firearm work on "select fire", is illegal. Any serial numbered firearm that wasn't registered as a machine gun before the end date for the 1986 law is illegal if in civilian hands.
