I was watching some of the Cable Gab Fests on Sunday morning. The pro-control people use the word assault style weapons when talking about semi and full automatic. I finally figured out that they either- one: did not know what they were talking about or- two: they were purposely misleading. We need to start to use words that more aptly describe the weapons. I think we make everyone use the words automatic or semi-automatic and make sure they know the difference. Assault “style” weapons, as far as I can tell, come in both flavors. You want to band fully automatic, I guess I could get on board with that since I think fully auto is restricted to special permits already. But banning semi-automatic could very well morph itself into banning the sale of hand guns since a six shooter is a semi-automatic weapon. CNN reported that both Bloomberg and BO both recently miss-spoke on this subject. Al Franken continues to be MIA on this subject.

BeRight - Do you suppose there's ANY CHANCE that Lunkhead Tennis Melvin Maynard saw all the press that was being issued about the killings of law enforcement officials in Colorado and Texas and thought to himself, "I can do that"? Sheriff Crum having been in the unfortunate position of being someone Maynard COULD get near.

Look greek , there are tons of weapons that the government has deemed inappropriate for civilians to own ! Restricting the sale of assault weapons isn't anything that hasn't been done in the past ! I suggest you disconnect your lips from your right-wing media but tholes long enough to quit spewing the latest bullsh*t and think for yourself !

You support the 2nd ammendment but want to approve any weapon someone wishes to own.!!??? You know what that is comrade?? Tennis Melvin Maynard, the guy who killed the Sheriff in Mingo County, had spent time at a state hospital for mental health issues within the past couple of years. Boy, I never say that one coming.

Universal checks will prevent felons and other previous lawbreakers from getting guns but we currently do not prosecute all attempts by these folks from trying to by a gun which is against the law. Why is that? I don’t know. Universal background checks will make you feel good but until the Gov’t complies a searchable list of the diagnosed mentally ill, schizophrenics, bipolar etc, (illnesses you can have and pass a background check) you will be missing the on the large population who are most likely to commit the crimes that we find so disgusting. You don’t see anyone rushing this idea to the forefront because the ACLU will fight this as a privacy issue.
