Do right-wing folks - and some others who should know better - habitually mis-use, mis-interpret, or mis-represent terms like "communist", "socialist", "Marxist","fascist", "democracy", "republic"?

From 1945 until the fall of the Soviet Union, right-wing "fringe" folks such as McCarthyites and John Birchers were in the habit of calling opponents "communists" or "socialists". Since 2008, their present-day counterparts have confused matters even further by mixing up terms like "fascist" and "Marxist" and applying such words generically to anything proposed by the current President and his supporters ... Do these jerks even know what these terms mean? I'll begin by defining these words in their original context, and others can take it from there ...
