THE PLAINS — Warren High will be represented by Erin Bogard and Justin Lough in next week’s state track meet at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus.

In a Division II regional meet Saturday at Athens High School, Bogard beat our everyone in the pole vault with a mark of 11 feet, seven inches to claim a regional championship. Just a sophomore, Bogard will look to place eighth or better at state to earn All-Ohio honors.

She’ll be joined in state competition by Lough, her freshman teammate. Lough placed third at regionals in the 300 hurdles to earn a state berth. He finished in 40.17 seconds.

Warriors sophomore Trent Sayre scored in two events but did not qualify for state. Sayre was sixth in the 1600 (4:30.07) and eighth in the 3200 (10:14.55). Kate Liston competed in the discus and finished 13th (97-6).

The Morgan Raiders also competed in the regional and will send Jasmine Penrod to state in the 800. Penrod finished third in the 800 with a time of 2:19.98. Her sister, Jordan Penrod, finished 13th in the 1600 with a time of 5:46.38.

Other local participants at the state meet are Marietta’s Travis Moore, Fort Frye’s Maddie Webb and Belpre’s Logan Racy and Tojzae Reams.
