Belpre defeats Federal Hocking, wins 4th straight game

STEWART — Belpre kept rolling Friday night for its fourth straight win, a 42-12 triumph over host Federal Hocking.

The Golden Eagles are now 4-2 after an 0-2 start. Federal Hocking fell to 1-5.

Nick Godfrey, who rushed for 43 yards on six carries, got the scoring started with a 5-yard touchdown run. Walker Feick added a 2-yard touchdown run to make it 14-0 Golden Eagles.

Connor Baker, who totaled 61 yards on six rushes, scrambled for a 20-yard scoring jaunt before Logan Adams, who finished with a game-high 89 yards on seven totes, rushed for TD runs of 26 and 8 yards to make it 35-0 in the third quarter.

Casey Miller capped Belpre’s scoring with an 8-yard touchdown run with seven minutes to go in the fourth.

Noah Robinson accounted for all of the Lancers’ points, scoring on touchdowns runs of 30 and 8 yards.

Belpre will look to make it five wins in a row next Friday when it plays host to South Gallia.

Warren 34, Barnesville 13

BARNESVILLE — The Warren Warriors improved to 4-2 this season with a 34-13 win over host Barnesville Friday night.

Warren got on the board first thanks to a 2-yard rushing touchdown by John Shoup. Later in the first quarter, Brandon Simoniette hauled in a 9-yard touchdown catch from Kurt Taylor to make it 14-0.

Barnesville got a touchdown back in the second quarter to make it 14-7 at halftime.

At the 7:24 mark in the third quarter, Shoup punched in another TD from a yard out to make it 21-7. The Shamrocks (3-3) answered on the first play of their ensuing possession, scoring on a 65-yard pass play to make it 21-13.

The Warriors, who play host to Williamstown next Friday, owned the fourth period, scoring on a 7-yard TD pass from Taylor to Evan Gandee and then an 80-yard TD run by Shoup.

Taylor finsihed 18 for 23 for 144 yards and two touchdown passes. Simoniette caught 3 balls for 23 yards while Gandee hauled in five passes for 61 yards. Shoup rushed for 100 yards on eight carries and three TDs.

Monroe Central 51, Magnolia 13

NEW MARTINSVILLE — Monroe Central turned in a dominating performance Friday night, defeating host Magnolia 51-13.

The Seminoles benefited from big plays, getting touchdowns of 37 and 59 yards from Alex Kilburn to quickly go ahead 13-0.

Malachi Rose-Burton extended Monroe’s lead with an 80-yard TD run and a 29-yard interception return. Another pick-6, this time by Talin Babcock from 70 yards out, made it 33-0 with 9:07 left in the second quarter. Jagger Keylor then rushed in from 4 yards out to make it 39-0 at halftime.

Kilburn got the second half started with a 48-yard touchdown run before Magnolia finally got on the board when Caden Cisar threw a 64-yard touchdown pass to Gavin Postlethwait. Silas McKeever then ran in from 36 yards out to make it 39-13, but Keylor provided the final dagger with a 43-yard touchdown run to seal the deal for the now 3-3 Seminoles.

Kilburn finished with 180 yards on nine carries, while Rose-Burton added 118 yards on five rushes. McKeever led the Blue Eagles (0-5) with 103 yards on 25 carries. Cisar passed for 107 yards with Postlethwait hauling in a pair of catches for 76 yards.

Maysville 27, Morgan 14

ZANESVILLE –Morgan High kept things competitive Friday night, but ultimately fell to host Maysville 27-14.

The Panthers (3-3) opened up a 14-0 lead in the first quarter on a 1-yard touchdown run by Kadin Hall and then a 94-yard TD jaunt by Kaiden Hartman.

At 10:24 in the second quarter, Lucas Waters scored from five yards out to make it 14-7, but Maysville scored the next 14 points on a 32-yard TD pass from Hall to Colton Lafollette and a 6-yard TD run by Hall to make it 27-7.

With 4:19 left in the game, Adam Niceswanger hauled in a 37-yard touchdown pass from Gabe Altier to cut it to 27-14.

Waters rushed for 64 yards on 12 carries while Niceswanger caught four passes for 71 yards. Altier finished 22 for 34 for 240 yards, a touchdown and no picks.
