Warren runner signs with Lipscomb: Sydenstricker helped Warriors place at XC district meet

VINCENT – Lana Sydenstricker is a young lady on the move.

The Warren senior student-athlete signed a National Letter of Intent Friday to continue her education and run cross country at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tn.

Sydenstricker is planning to major in journalism at Lipscomb, which is about a seven-hour drive from Washington County.

“I chose Lipscomb because of its Christian environment,” Sydenstricker said. “It also has a great team environment, and I’m very excited to be a part of it.”

Sydenstricker said she also considered attending Cincinnati Christian University.

Lipscomb, a private Christian school and an affiliate of the Churches of Christ in Music City USA, is a member of NCAA Division I and of the Atlantic Sun Conference.

The Lady Bisons cross country team is coached by Bill Taylor.

“Lana’s strength is her work ethic,” said Warren cross country coach Debbie Proctor. “She’s a very coachable, honest and hardworking young lady, who balances her school work and running. She’s also very humble.

“When she visited Lipscomb, I think her personality and work ethic stood out, and that’s what impressed them.”

Last fall, Sydenstricker was a member of the Warren girls team that placed fourth at district at Rio Grande. Running the 3.1-mile distance in a time of 23 minutes, 12.06 seconds, she helped the Lady Warriors advance to regional competition at Pickerington North.

“Lana played a very important role in the race,” Proctor said.

At Pickerington North, Sydenstricker was clocked in 22:52.02.

Sydenstricker said her PR (personal record) best time was 22:09 at a Unioto meet last fall.

Sydenstricker, a four-year letterwinner in cross country, also competes on the Warren track and field team. She runs in the long-distance events, and her coach is Sally Maddox.

In the classroom, Sydenstricker is in the top 10 of her class with a 4.10 GPA.

Sydenstricker is the daughter of Michael and Stephanie Sydenstricker of Bartlett. She has two younger sisters – Lexie and Lynsie.
