Ohio state prep wrestling action
COLUMBUS – Levi Congleton is still alive and competing at the state wrestling tournament at Value City Arena at the Jerome Schottenstein Center on the campus of The Ohio State University in Columbus.
On opening day, Thursday, Warren’s 106-pound standout dropped his opening bout to Napoleon’s Seth Beard, 16-1, but came back and earned a fall in the evening against Millersburg’s Cole Woods in a time of 3:32.
Congleton will be wrestling in the consolation round today.
Waterford’s Austin Lang (126 pounds), Belpre’s Gavin Stalnaker (106), and Monroe Central’s Rodney Richter ( (113) each bowed out in the double-elimination tourney, going 0-2 in their two matches.
Caldwell brothers’ Kameron Rayner (138) and Kale Rayner (170) each won their first match, and will be competing in the winner’s bracket today. Redskin 182-pounder Jared Leasure lost his opening bout but came back to get a mat-slapper in the consolation round.
